We may, finally, hold Trump accountable. What about his followers?

Clearly, the rioters must be brought to justice. That's being worked on. Congressional Repubs complicit in the destruction of the last 4 years should be held to account at the ballot box. Never again should they be able to return to public life. Will that happen to the extent it should? It's doubtful.

But what about Trump's defenders/supporters? I invite them to reflect on what they've enabled.

An armed insurrection, the goal of which was to overturn a fair, certified election.
    Multiple constitutional crises.
An inept federal response to a devastating pandemic.
Huge additions to the national debt.
The gutting of essential governmental departments.
Divisiveness not seen since the Civil War.
The loss of respect by the international community.
    Two impeachments.
    A weakening of the country.
    Degradation of faith in institutions.
Disgrace to the office of the prez.

Is there a way to hold them responsible for their culpability? I don't think there is. I guess we have to be satisfied with the punishment being dealing with what they have wrought. Chaos.

For the sake of future generations I sincerely hope they will see the error of their ways.

No, it won't happen to the extent it should. Probably half of them have gained admiration from their constituents.

True. But it looks to be a dwindling constituency.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2021/01/13/trump-approval-rating-poll-458602

Repubs in increasing numbers are moving away from Trump as his popularity tumbles among the minions. So too is the business community, the sports community, anyone who recognizes the reputational risk of maintaining support for a traitor.

I don't disagree. That's what I said. The majority of us are going to have to coexist with millions of people, Trump's minions, who are detached from reality.

The Quislings who support Trump and Trumpism - the party officials, conservative media figures, the think tank organizations, etc. should be the target of social ostracism.

I don't recall his name but someone just stated that people love Trump and the Republicans that are remaining loyal think they can hold onto that for future political aspirations. He also stated that "it doesn't work that way". He basically was saying that the "Trump love" is non-transferable to the party.

Don't worry. An asset of the Chinese Communist Party, Eric Swalwell, will make sure Chairman Xi never has to worry about Trump again.

Xi was never worried about Trump. Nor was Erdogan, Kim or Putin.

People keep saying Biden is a neocon. Good. Maybe these foreign adversaries will think twice.

ANTIFA Democrats showed up at the Capitol 30 minutes before Trump closed his rally, asking rally attendees to peacefully walk down Pennsylvania Ave and let representatives know that they are paying attention. Impeaching Trump with no basis in fact is sedition ,,, which should be added to Pelosi crimes, destroying government property during the SOTU, and insider trading, investing in Amazon when she participated in shutting down the country due to the Chinacrat COVID infection opportunity.

Trump ended the sale of the US to China. Thanks to Biden, Xi has US stealth technology in their J-20 fighter, Hunter had $1.5B payment of which the Big Guy got 10%. We'll see if Biden continues to sell USAID for a piece of the action.

I know I am saying the obvious, but they do not want unity. They want revenge. The more severe the better.

Once again, I agree. But it has become difficult for ostracism to be effective because there are so many of them.

Trump's minions seem to take solace in the fact that over 70M people voted for him. They feel the numbers justify their own personal vote. The thinking being so many people can't be that misguided. They're wrong. Manifestly proven by............

That's the hopeful, optimistic view. But half if not more of what used to be the GOP is now the POT. They are so far down the rabbit hole of lies and conspiracy theories it will take a good long time to get them back.

Now that Trump has been voted out of office, his duplicitous enablers feel more at ease distancing themselves from the Orange Insurrectionist. Repub members of the congressional caucus, the US Chamber of Commerce, the PGA, Deutsche Bank, NYC, there's a growing list. I'm wondering if this...........
After a week of excuses, blame, and insincere calls for unity, right-wing media must own up to their role in the January 6 attack on Congress
    https://www.mediamatters.org/januar...sincere-calls-unity-right-wing-media-must-own
    ................will happen.

I think it depends on how detached from reality their audience is.
