What I read from some analysts, is that the whole thing was staged. Stephanopulos would ask certain questions, and Biden would give the answers. This of course makes it worse than if it was just said on the impulse of the moment. The intent of course was to demonize Vladimir Putin.

This reminds me of the time that the airliner was knocked down in Ukraine. Robert Parry of Consortiumnews, asked the Intel. agents what they knew about it. They said they couldn't understand why Obama would say that Russia was behind it, when everything points to Ukraine.

After a few months Parry asked them again, and again they said that everything points to Ukraine - probably a rogue group. (Governor Kolomoisky?). Parry said that since they know it was not Russia, then why aren't they telling the American people. Their response was that Russia has everything going for it in Ukraine, but all we have are our lies.

The Russians know where they are, it's the Americans that can't find them and are going crazy. Look, no one knows how many subs there are and where they are. What we do know is that they have missiles with a long range. Anyway that's what I read in a Greek defense source so take it as you may.

We know that about Trump supporters, you don’t have to remind us.

Nah, the same question was asked form Trump, and he gave the standard soviet answer, which is "what about the US, - Americans are killers too".

Russian Oligarchs are here, on this lake [a lot of villas belong to Russians here around ... I know not a few of them, despite EU restrictions].
Vladimir Vladimirovic is on a different layer [to use "Putin" has got a different meaning from a Russian perspective, btw].
But it seems that US administration is going to lead us towards a competition with Russia and China.
It's ok. For Russians competitors can be friends.

Don't take anything with the Russians with a grain of salt. They're very secretive. Let's not forget the SS Donald Cooke. I recall the Saker saying that they consider threats a sign of weakness. So if Putin says he's ready for anything, he undoubtedly means it.

I found the following today in Sputnik, so the Greek defense site was right. By the way, it was the information the Greek site had in the past years on the fighting in Ukraine, that made me realize that everything our media was telling us was a lie.

Getting back to the Russian sub and why its disappearance from radar is driving the Americans crazy. The subs are armed with 18 torpedoes and eight SAM missiles, and can be fitted with Kalibr land-attack and anti-ship cruise missiles (the Rostov-on-Don is one of them).

“NATO’s anti-submarine warfare forces have been trying to find the Rostov-on-Don for a week now…Attempts to find it have not met with success. At the same time, Russian command remains in contact with the sub,” the source said...

"...On Thursday, Israeli media reported on a “mysterious operation” by US naval reconnaissance aircraft off the coasts of Israel, Lebanon and Syria, with Navy Poseidon P-8 aircraft engaged in unscheduled patrols in search of the Rostov-on-Don, thought to have passed Gibraltar into the Mediterranean about a month ago..."

"...Britain’s Royal Navy was said to have shadowed the sub as it sailed south and entered the Mediterranean, with the US Sixth Fleet headquartered in Naples, Italy taking over from there. This week, the sub was said to have disappeared from US radar screens, its position unknown..."

"...Earlier, Russian Black Sea Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Igor Osipov confirmed that all six of the fleet’s subs were on active duty at sea, but did not reveal where they were deployed..."

"...Launch of "Kalibr" sea-based missiles by Rostov-on-Don submarine on Daesh targets in Raqqah..."

You're being naive. The Russians always looked at the Americans as competitors, but the neo cons in Washington never saw Russia that way. They don't want competitors, they want hegemony. Here are some quotes from an open letter to Vladimir Putin from Dr. Paul Craig Roberts who was Pres. Reagan's economic advisor:

    Dear President Putin,

Please permit me to offer an explanation of the threat that you and the entire world face. Washington and the American foreign policy establishment hates your guts. They hate you because you restored Russia’s sovereignty and, thereby, put a powerful country in the way of American hegemony. Remember the Wolfowitz Doctrine (1992):

“Our first objective is to prevent the re-emergence of a new rival, either on the territory of the former Soviet Union or elsewhere, that poses a threat on the order of that posed formerly by the Soviet Union. This is a dominant consideration underlying the new regional defense strategy and requires that we endeavor to prevent any hostile power from dominating a region whose resources would, under consolidated control, be sufficient to generate global power.”

"...This neoconservative policy remains in place. No alternative has come forward. Recently, two Russian analysts at the hegemonic Atlantic Council suggested that Washington pursue a less hostile approach to Russia. They were immediately denounced by the other 22 members of the council’s foreign policy experts..."

Russia's economy is 60% reliant on fossil fuels. They are making no effort to change that. So which ideology is more helpful to them?

Trump's pro fossil fuel policies and support for pipelines that make us the top oil and gas producer in the world or the idiotic climate change policies of the libos?

If Trump was Putin's puppet why did he oppose very forcefully the NG pipeline from Russia to Germany in the Baltic sea?

So what? Americans can hate Russians as they want ... who cares?
In Europe we don't hate Russians so much [just a bit!]. Germany is thinking to buy Sputnik vaccine, just to say [and other EU countries will follow].

This said, don't make confusion between public communication and real diplomacy. Think to the US - China meeting: until TV cameras were on it was a fight and US President was proud of his representative and Chinese people was proud of the Chinese representatives ...
as soon as they switched the TV cameras off the situation changed and they begun to discuss for real ...

Well, I mean, we are. We are pretty damned good at it. Doesn't matter where in the world you are, we can get you, by drone, airstrike, sniper, ambush... we are the masters of it, and do it on a regular basis. I don't see it as a bad thing, depending on the situation.

You'll have to forgive many on the Left. It's that whole, reality of human nature thing that stumps them. Bless their hearts...

Sooo...it's ok for Trump to call Americans killers, but its not ok for Biden to call Russians killers.....I guess we pretty much got the Trump apologist mindset defined here.

I am certainly not a Trump apologist. You've got the wrong person for that label. I'm just saying we are damn good at killing. Like I said, that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
