I think B&J became a national brand due to making their liberal views part of their marketing strategy, even going so far as to have it shown in the names of their ice cream.

 

There are two books you need to look at, the one is Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert T. Kiyosaki and the other is Die Broke by Stephen Pollan. Both talk of scenarios where the common knowledge that Home Ownership is always best is taken to task. I'm not any great follower of either but they do inform one of an alternative path that people should at least be aware of.

 

Don't you love the "you aren't paying attention" argument. Basically he's saying you're too dumb to notice anything. People like spirit just need something to be upset about. It seems like they find something new to be upset about on a daily basis. That has to get tiresome for them at some point. I can't imagine living my life in a constant angry state. This is the common tactic for all CT folks. Many on this board are doing it with COVID, I have had the same thing used against me when I debated with a flat earther who also thought space did not even exist. It is always the go to line when they have nothing else to offer.

 

Politics ARE your life, they're life and death sometimes. We in the USA live this pampered lifestyle where we can afford to ignore them but only recently we've been reminded that's not always the way things are or have been in most of the world, not by a long shot.

I do agree we in the US live a pampered lifestyle. I have traveled more than most and seen how much of the world lives.

It is one of the reasons I do not live for politics.

 

Great books. Kyosaki also has a board game I played with my kids. "Cashflow For Kids" teaches them about passive income.

My greatest fear in politics is that Trump might get somebody smart to help him. I've watched American politics for several decades and never had a pol actually SCARE me before

 

Why not start with your life and safety. The coddling of crime, the refusal to treat rioters as criminals, the tolerance of rioters are rapidly growing... as is the persecution of those who object to it.
Crazy people are finding the environment created by the liberal dems to be an invitation to express themselves with violence- to intimidate cities and citizens with threats of violence if they don't get their way.
Crime stats and crazy events are popping up like dandelions in spring, and the dems look the other way.

One of the major duties of government is to maintain law and order, so that things can be accomplished rationally, and people can live safely.

Minnesota has just called out the national guard again over new rioters. The excuse for looting some 20 stores is that a black man with outstanding warrants was shot while trying to evade arrest.
We don't know if the officer may have done so in a criminal way yet, but the trash-thinkers don't care; it's an excuse to riot and loot, and they now know from experience that the dems and liberals will condone it. So they attack people who had nothing to do with the incident- because it's profitable and gives them power, and the jackasses they call politicians will not do more than pretend to be concerned.

The governor of Minnesota didn't wait for a report; he spoke up to address the terrible loss of another black life caused by the police. The city of Minneapolis didn't wait for a verdict on Chauvin either- they voted to give $25M to the family of a career criminal, trying to buy peace from mob thugs. Any sane person knows that amounts to prejudicing the entire legal process. The trial judge rejected a motion for a change of venue- which is so appropriate here that any conviction would be overturned by any court not in the middle of that mess. So- Minneapolis, among many other cites the dems run, have been turning into cities where fear, rather than safety, rules- with the mobs dictating to government.

This is because- the managers of this city as well as the governor of the state are acting stupidly, are cowardly, and are piss-poor managers unfit for their jobs. They are in those jobs because they have been elected by people equally unqualified to manage anything, or even recognize good values. How about the people's right to live in peace, safely? Obviously, the political powers in those environments could care less. The difference between the management of Minneapolis and the new administration managing the nation are pretty much limited to faces. Same objectives, same distortions, same stupidity, same cowardice, and the same fear of the people having the right and power to resist... same willingness to throw them under the bus.

But then- perhaps you don't believe in a right to life or safety. I do.

 

So no I still have the same rights and freedoms.
