Hmmm I am reluctant to go there as well as I try very very very hard not to let prejudice colour my thinking.

With respect, it's no different to noting the demographic which protests lockdowns. We must acknowledge patterns of dangerous behaviour where we find them.

A national emergency isn't the time for delicacy and egos. To put that ahead of utility is worse than protesting lockdowns - because it prevents solutions! God forbid we've devolved so far that we can't fix anything anymore, lest it offend someone's fragile sense of self. Saving egos at the cost of lives is the stuff of stupid kings.

Yes but have spent ten years working among indigenous people in rural and remote locations and have seen first hand the hurt and disadvantage. Now if you think there is no disadvantage - Sydney they are doing transcutaneous valve replacements in the over nineties. Our northern indigenous population has the highest enrage of RHD in the world and we are losing 30 year olds

Different demographic, again. The migrant belt is populated by migrants - primarily SE Asian, Arab, and Indian. Nothing to do with indigeneous - though even if were we would still have to face that reality head on, not demure in fear of upsetting someone.

We have almost the same population around 20 something million, but we are connected to a LOT more and can't stop people from coming here. There is no gloating, just facts. We didn't make Delta, another ISLAND did. Do you have 131,423,000 visitors a year? No, didn't think so.

Piece from ABC this morning. Exactly what I've been talking about. I knew this was going to happen, but couldn't spell it out til it was released publically. And trust me (again!) when I say that this is a heavily toned down criticism of the rule flaunters. The ****ers are screwing us over in spectacular fashion. And it's in no way a 'small minority'.

"Hundreds of soldiers will arrive in Sydney today to help police crack down on residents flouting stay-at-home restrictions amid rising case numbers.

Three hundred military personnel will undergo training over the weekend before hitting the streets with police on Monday to ensure residents are complying with the health orders.

NSW Police Minister David Elliott said the deployment was necessary because a small minority of people thought "the rules didn't apply to them".

You'll note that there is no mention of the protesters .. that's because it's not them causing the problems.

We get it entirely, since we're the ones who get to live normally - while America never stops suffering in masked, semi-lockdown, high infection rate dystopia. Our economy doesn't even suffer .. it's actually boomed this year.

What do you do with New York City...snowbirds, oh, wait, you are an ISLAND and can stop them from interstate travel to their own property.

An intelligent person would not quote the irrelevant 2019 tourist numbers to hide the fact that in late July 2021 Florida are seeing 20% of the total US new cases

I guess being locked down and told not to speak to your neighbors is the definition of "normal"

Strange times that country is in right now

We were not told not to speak to our neighbours, FFS! We speak to our neighbours all the time.

Go back and re-read the actual directive. It has nothing to do with speaking or your neighbours, it's about the location. We were asked not to be in groups INDOORS. We can chat to our neighbours all day long if we want to, OUTDOORS. We can catch up with family and friends also, as long as it's outdoors and not in large groups. COVID thrives indoors, so we don't do indoor stuff. It's very freaking simple, and in a country like Australia it's very normal to be outdoors all year round. Australians tend to do a lot of socialising outdoors normally anyway, so this isn't a big deal to any but those silly enough to live in apartments, or those who've chosen to live long distances from family/friends.

"Tourist Numbers" don't come out until after the year is OVER. The point is that there is no comparison whatsoever between Biden's border policies, how our interstate borders work with regard to who can visit whenever they please, and xenophobic ISLAND Australia that can stop the infected from coming.

So your post containing 2019 tourist figures was irrelevant

If California, which like New York is a huge tourist destination, has an increase in cases, it does not mean tourist figures are irrelevant, it means they are, the Democrat in California can't stop the infected from coming. Australia can only get Delta, Echo, Foxtrot...Zulu CoronaZombie if they let them in; when was the last time an Australian saw a license plate from California, or New York, or New Jersey...I see them all the time. We are a melting pot, they are NOT.

Yeah, and I still wore my mask at the Port Orange Walmart the other day, when Walmart's policy says only their employees wear masks, because we are a peninsula; a car from Georgia pulled in right in front of me, couldn't kick the Cracker out if I wanted to. Don't want to try on Delta for a size, wear a mask and wash the grubby paws like I do, and don't let US in.
