The continuation of lies from the left media. It’s shameful

You skipped over the problem of riots, looting businesses, and burning down a city.

 

I would also prefer police and the national guard. People like Kyle probably would too. But when liberal leaders run a city they don't seem to enforce the law against looters by using police or national guard. Eventually citizens have to enforce the law and protect their property when leaders won't.

 

Especially when the linked articles display "OPINION" and "BLOG" at the top of the article.

Not at all. They claim the same stuff on video feed of MSNBC as well. Opinion or not, they are publishing and spouting lies.

You know I really didn't follow any of this until I read an article about how the judge told the prosecutor off for implying that silence by the defendant is incriminating. I know he shot three protestors that he said were attacking him or about to attack him. I read one of them had a gun, but I don't know any of that from quantum mechanics.

What I do know is that he went there armed, and for no other reason than to engage with protestors. So I don't feel bad for him. Nor do I feel bad for the people he shot because they too chose to engage with some stupid guy with a gun.

All I see here is two groups of people strutting around looking for a fight, and acting like they are being victimized for someone giving it to them. At that point you've all forfeited any sympathy from me had they all wound up dead. Stupid. Had they all wound up in jail. Stupid. Had Rittenhouse wound up dead and the protestors went free. Stupid, and as it has played out. Stupid.

Everyone discussing this as though there is some sort of moral purity to be pulled from all this stupid like one of those oil spill pelicans that you can just bathe in some Dawn and warm water and gently clean until it flutter back to life are making themselves just as stupid as the parties involved in this sad, stupid event.

 

Left-wing or right, most media these days strive to divide the nation so that you all are left feeling conflicted and angry.

 

But making the thread title a "...continuation of lies from the left media" implies this was from actual reporting...but you are correct, this is the opinion section.

But, we used to regulate the press. Free speech is protected, but publishing false information and propaganda is actually another thing altogether.

When you have to have an FCC license to use federally controlled frequencies to broadcast, you there were control on the quality of content. Since cable, broadband & internet- there are none, and the profession of journalism which used to take great pride in it's integrity not takes great pride in the total lack of it.

There are no regulations, and the industry refuse to regulate itself.

This seems an issue where Fiduciary Duty is relevant. That's the law regarding requiring truth and fairness in any relationship where one party has influence over others in various ways, or their property, etc- It says in the Fiduciary position, you have an inherent obligation. I believe that when you choose to get off the corner and take your story to publication you are subjecting yourself to a situation of public trust- and a fiduciary Duty. Violation of that duty would be actionable, legally. This hasn't been approached yet, but I do believe an honorable congress would have no problems making that a legal condition.

Just as free speech does not allow yelling fire in a crowded building, the multitude of incitements and promotions of violence that have taken place via broadcasts should not be exempt, as the create harm to people. I think the truth is not to much to ask of anyone who wishes to put themselves in the positions of reporters, commentators, etc.

I'd like to suggest government regulation is the last lever we'd want to pull. I don't disagree with your suggestion that content providers are grossly negligent in their abandonment of truth-seeking and the ethical practices that used to comprise the profession of newsgathering. However, this is the cost of freedom. It is incumbent on the citizen to be informed, and equipped with the tools of discernment. But we have, most of us, ceded our responsibilities of child rearing and education to the state. So, we reap what sow, don't we?

We have a poster who lives in the same state as me, Florida.

I explained to him the circumstances under which open carry is legal in the state of Florida. I even walked in by the hand and took him to the specific Florida State statute that authorizes it.

He still could not find it in himself to admit that he was simply wrong.

Such a state of mind goes beyond simple ignorance, it's a willful refusal to accept reality.

It starts with the entitlement phase. They grow up this way. You will never find them wearing a uniform in the service of others but they have boat loads of criticism for those who do because mommy never told them no so they hate anyone in a position of authority except those they vote into office who are just like them.

They can never admit they are wrong on any subject and choose to ignore anything that proves otherwise. They think they are entitled to loot stores or burn down your business if they don't get their way.

 

Not sure about the looting part but otherwise you have perfectly described almost all the conservatives on the board.

How many conservatives still profess Rittenhouse was a murdering vigilante after his acquittal because of the evidence clearly showing it was self defense?
How many conservatives still profess Mueller couldn't recommend charges against Trump because of the OLC opinion on indictments?
How many conservatives think it was appropriate to send in 75 tactical FBI agents, a helicopter, and a CNN news van to subdue an unarmed 65 year old over a perjury charge?
