Would that be all republicans? Personally, I am very concerned about our national debt and what it will do to our nation. You should also be concerned about our national debt.

Hassan backs nixing filibuster on voting rights

Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), who is up for reelection in 2022, announced on Thursday that she supports getting rid of the 60-vote legislative filibuster for voting rights legislation.

Hassan is the latest in a growing number of Senate Democrats who back changes to the Senate rules as voting rights legislation has been stuck in limbo for months — though Democrats don't yet have the 50 votes needed in order to reform the filibuster.

"A set of arcane Senate rules are being used as an excuse not to act. This cannot stand. We must change the rules to allow a simple majority of this body ... to pass laws that will protect the right to vote and protect American democracy," Hassan said during a speech from the Senate floor on Thursday night.

She's on the right side of history.

Really, you care about the national debt huh? Who did you vote for to represent your state in the house and senate? You see Republicans "say" they care about the national debt but will vote in their respective politicians who just INCREASE the debt. So in reality, no they don't care about the debt or they wouldn't keep voting for the people increasing the debt.

Go away. Since you are only interested in picking a fight, I am not your man.

Sorry you don't like facts. Republicans elect those that increase the debt, so obviously they don't really care about the debt. Next time, don't preach about you caring about the national debt.

You wouldn't know a fact if it bit you in the a$$. That is obvious since you make a lot of assumptions about me when you know nothing about me.

    Now. Please just go away.

I'm not sure that's a fair statement, Golem. I'm not a fan of Trump or some of the Republicans on this forum but that doesn't negate the fact that ALL politicians say what they think will keep them in power. That's what politics is.
Yes. I strongly believe that Trump is a domestic terrorist and our Public Enemy #1. That's no longer shocking to me. It IS shocking to me that so many people believe his bs.

Nope unlike Democrats I am in favor of less government and less bureacracy and less robbery by government and more liberty.

I agree. When you attempted to insult another forum member, you only revealed that the shiny object you referred to is a mirror. I do appreciate you admitting that the big government your party is pushing does reduce the value of individual thinking.

I disagree. I personally know politicians who actually got into public office to serve.

    Shocking and dangerous.

I see. And you believe that a dictatorship will accomplish that.

    Good luck with that!

Are you reversing your position on supporting a bigger, more powerful government? Not long ago, you wanted Americans thrown in prison for refusing to consume a pharm product.

Many politicians get into public office to serve. Most of them are either pushed out or become jaded. Do you know politicians that have been around a long time that still hold those goals in mind?
    Quite.

Yes. Absolutely. Two of them were very close. One passed, and the other is 86 years old today and retired. Probably the two people in the world I learned most about politics.

If you don't want to talk about it stop talking about it.

Why? Explain to me, please, exactly why people are (or should be) entitled to having other people pay for their health care bills based solely on their status as having been born. And, on the flip side, why others are just expected to pay those bills whether they want to, or not?

What ever happened to the idea of self-sufficiency? (For the record, I'm talking about able-bodied and able-minded persons, for those who TRULY cannot take care of themselves, I'm fine with some governmental assistance. I don't think that because I recently became one of those physically disabled persons, that has been my position for decades, and for way longer than the idea of becoming disabled was anything aside from a "Yeah, right" scenario, though we did nonetheless plan for it.)

To believe that is, itself, a racist position, which shows very clearly who the real racists are. For to believe that you must believe that POC are either too broke to afford one (except they're free), or if not too poor, then too stupid to know how to get one, or if not too stupid, too lazy to actually do it.

Now, imagine what would happen if a Republican Congress-Critter were to say, "You know, the problem with POC is that they're poor, stupid, and lazy.". It would not be pretty.

Why? Does the Constitution dictate (or even ALLOW??) spending the public treasury on free healthcare for even a subset of Citizens, much less all of them? No, it doesn't. So why is it reasonable to take money away from the producers to give it to the leeches to pay for their healthcare bills? At what point in time did that go from something each Citizen was required to acquire on their own to something that one is entitled to just because they were born once upon a time?

No it isn't. It's only truly free for those on benefits (make of that what you will). Working people contribute a tax levy of around 2%.

It is, as long as it's not being abused by those on benefits.

    Exactly.

It's called the soft bigotry of low expectations--at least that is how it is described by Republicans. Were Republicans to do the same thing, it would be outright racist, bringing back the dark antebellum days in the American collective unconscious.

If you want a successful, prosperous country, one of the key things for that is a healthy citizenry.
