Must we really hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters?

The current KJV is based on Blayney’s 1769 Revised Oxford Edition of the 1611 KJV. You would be hard-pressed to find anyone who uses the 1611 KJV today. BTW, the original 1611 KJV is about 95% textually the same as the older and more popular Geneva Bible, which was used by the Protestants. The 1611 KJV is a Church of England (Anglican) Bible.

Why do you claim we are all equal when your Bible says otherwise?

Does not the Bible say a Hebrew can only be a slave for six years but non-Hebrews can be slaves forever? I guess all slaves are equal but some are more equal than others.

Does not Peter tell slaves to submit to their masters?

So does your Bible state the following 1 Timothy 2:11-15.
I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.

Do you call this being equal?
If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do

So does this mean Bible translators were not guided by the Holly Spirit and the Bible is not the literal word of God as I keep hearing Christians claim? Shocking.

"Submit one to another" that is also in the scriptures. In the culture of Biblical times it would be better to be a slave than to be a peasant with no protection. You can slice and dice to suit your own narrative, but obviously you hand pick sections of scripture.

Question for you.....when you read the scriptures do you honestly ask the Holy Spirit to help you "rightfully divide" the scriptures in truth?.....in a way that you can learn something of God's wisdom? Or do you come at it in a way to dispel all that in favor of your own wisdom?
Actually there is a Book of the Bible .... Philemon. It's all about a slave and his Master. I think if you were sincere in searching, you could glean a lot out of that. I am not going to print it for you here but I think it proves that a Master is not above his servant.

I do not ask the Holy Spirit questions. I did once ask the Magic Eight Ball some questions.

I have a question for you. When the Canon was established how was it determined what scripture was included and what scripture was not included? How did we get from around 30 Gospels down to 4 in the 2nd Century?

Of course a master is above his servant/slave. One does the work and receives the beatings. The other gives the orders. This is not an equal relationship.

According to the Jewish Babylonian Talmud, in the afterlife each Jew will get 2,800 slaves. Won't those slaves be lucky!!

One can always question why God allowed there to be what WE see as criminal.

And, WE are adding to that list of evils that God might be expected to have prevented.

However, any judgement like that presumes that we know God's plan.

I don't believe there IS a god, but such did existed as represented in the Bible (instead of the thousands of other postulated gods) there is no evidence that we have the information required to judge that god.

Isn't this what the story of Eden is about? Adam assumed the position of being judge of this world. And, that belief that we are so dang smart is surely the sin that damns every human according to the Bible.

I think there is always some value in the metaphor that can be obtained from the Bible. For me, the knowledge of Good and Evil refers to a knowledge of things like atomic energy, and genetic engineering, i.e., technology that can be used for both good and evil -- the technology that gives man powers formerly attributed to God(s).

When I read Catholic literature it's more that eating of the tree of good and evil is God's purview as supreme judge of right and wrong. Only god has the knowledge of good and evil.

Mankind may think he is qualified to be judge of good and evil, but he is not. Only God has that knowledge.

Humans seeing themselves as on the same plane as god is the sin humans are born with. It's not that Adam disobeyed at the beginning of humans, thus we inherit the blame. It's that each and every human comes this way.

I'm sure there are other interpretations, of course. There almost alway are.

In the biblical fairy tale, even the God character said that man (meaning the Jews) knows as much about good and evil as he does. Most rational people know the difference between good and evil, regardless of their society. That is not to say that they won't do evil things but that they know what they are doing and will try to justify their actions.

Don't forget, people will judge angels. And, if you can judge, you generally have the power to punish as well.

Do you have a cite for that? I've not seen that.

I would suggest that is not an adequate view. In Matthew 25, 31-end Jesus states Earthly requirements for individuals who believe in him (the first level requirement) to stay out of hell.

So, clearly even what we do NOT do can be an evil worthy of hell.

Since the God character loves to deceive people into believing lies, how can he be trusted about anything?

Well, surely it is worse than that by a LOT.

How could anyone know the source of dreams or near death experiences they had or otherwise come to any rational conclusion about whether the source of an idea is supernatural, sent by some god or devil.

People who concoct gods tend to give them their own mental conditions, which is understandable since there are no celestial gods of any kind in this solar system. The biblical writers included stories about God being evil because they were showing that the story was just a parody and shouldn't be taken seriously.

If I was so inclined, I would create my own deity who would be 100% loving and kind, but it would be my delusion without any basis in reality. And that is true for all of the estimated 330,000,000 gods that other people have created over tens of thousands of years.

Why should you believe in someone else's god when you can create your own?

All deities are imaginary. Therefore, they take on the persona of their creators and other people end up being forced to worship some fruitcake's delusion. Even the Bible says that.

Picking cases like Jonestown or whatever does not prove anything at all.

There are numerous serious religions that have developed over significant periods of time. And many of those have attributes that are to be respected.

There is no valid logic that allows you to write off some significant number of religions by merely finding one religion that is an obvious failure.

Well, for a start, it should be obvious that all flavors of Christianity are worthless.

I don't agree with that statement.
