Wasn't an attempt to end elections. this is absurd .. was an attempt to overturn this particular election ..via protest - wanting the purported fraud to be investigated - a protest that got violent .. as protests often do. Our democratic process in general was at no time under "threat" - they had no chance of ending said democratic process by that action .. only furthering it by their request for investigation. furthering the democratic process.

As stated previously .. you got things all backward mate.

we are a republic as much as we are a democracy. to say 'you can't be American and republican' is asinine.

why don't you just be honest and say you want us to be able to do anything with a simple majority vote instead of the vote being limited by a pre-set code of laws? thats the only real difference between a democracy and republic.

 

As you can name the few republicans that have sense, Not all republicans are to blame.
If you notice, it is only the Trump supporters that fit your descriptions. Im sure no one has a problem with people like, the governor of Maryland, Larry Hogan, Liz Chaney, John Mcain, etc.

Trump supporters are the problem. The thing is they were like this before Trump became a thing, but they had no one to rally under...Trump did at least one good thing, he weeded out the poison from the republican party, and got them to reveal themselves..and Gdanm was that party tainted.

 

I'm often told that I'm supposed to have sympathy for victims of right wing propaganda, but I just can't. At least not in any meaningful way. Like I get that the guy who killed his wife because he thought they were daemons is pitiful and deserves some sympathy, but it's not like we want them driving forklifts.

They are lemmings running behind trump because he has convinced them that their only chance of protecting themselves is to jump on this nut-wagon and don’t see the cliff rapidly approaching. I hear talk of Biden’s recent speech being incoherent.......how can anyone criticize a person’s speech after listening to 4 years of trumptard? How we/they condoned his rhetoric without putting together a rail and tar program is literally beyond me. The part where you believe the people who tried to end America and not your own eyes to me can only come from being anti-American. Maybe that part is wrong, but who else could you not know that this was an attempt to steal the country? The republic thing is stupid, but does not change the fact that ending and appointing trump dictator would end America. That's it. There is no but. THAT is what you are if you are a republican. NOTHING else.

What you're really saying here is that we have to reject the objective definitions of terminology and instead accept your personal definitions of terminology.

No, we don't. If you want to be able to communicate with other humans, objective definitions are necessary. You can make up your own meaning to words if you want, but you may not expect others to abide by them.

 

The problem is that pretty much anyone who really cared about America, or it's people left the party.

 

What I'm saying is that trump tried to end elections. The republican party stands for nothing but doing just that. Anything that people CLAIM are conservative values can be found in folks that were run out of the party. The party's main focus is on making sure elections can be overturned (ie ending them) which will end America. That ends your stupid republic too by the way.

 

Wait a minute... lol, back up a second... were you trying to argue that because the word 'republic' is in the name 'republican' that defines what they stand for? Like "They can't be trying to end America, they have 'republic' in the name, they just run around being really into republics, that's just all they do."

 

Now that I'm not writing so fast, let's be 100% clear that none of these things follow from ANYthing that ever came close to this conversation. And a republic does absolutely NOTHING to mitigate any of them. Remember, a republic is just democracy founded on mega mega racism.
