But there is in yours right ?

You’ve provided nothing here, other than the “I’m right….because I said so” defense….

My position comes directly from the text.

    What does this say?

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

We can go into English and point out the subjects, nouns and verbs to make sure we understand if you’d like.

What is the subject of this sentence? What is the verb? And what is the noun?

Please explain what the subject, verb and noun are in this statement:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”

No it doesn’t. And you won’t answer the question because you know it blows your position out of the water.

I does nothing of the sort.

You keep glossing over what congress did in the 1stA, and that they had the power to do it

Ok, so now you understand the point of not favoring any particular religion. Now, what happens when the government opens up a public forum meant for all and excludes religion? One, or two, or all, doesn't matter. If the government opens up a public forum and excludes religion what is the government saying about religion then? Its saying that you are not a part of us. You're not worthy enough to be able to express your views like all these other groups. Just shut up and go away. I'm sure there are a lot of atheists that would love this. They still get to have their views expressed because they're not a religion.

    See the problem?

The whole separation of church from state thing isn't just about not endorsing any particular religion. Its about being neutral when it comes to religion. Not favoring, nor discouraging.

It is saying that we are here to discuss state matters, not religious matters. And that goes for everyone.
You are all free to go home and express your faith in any way you wish as long as it isn't about state matters.
Secular states are happy to include faith based organisations. I belong to one...while not being a catholic, I work with a catholic church based group who elect to spend time with older people who live alone and have no permanent family. But my town doesn't lean towards catholics when deciding whether to pave the road in front of the church if the priest asks .

I know the concept is difficult for someone who loves where religion has been knitted into civil matters for hundreds of years, but revolutions have been fought to stop faiths corrupting government.

all or none, as long as they allow all other religious flags the same air time, Muslim, satanism, spaghetti monster... the list goes on

usually when they have to give other religions the same, they decide 'none' is better

this statue gets moved around a bit to prove that point when Christians try to put statues outside courthouses and stuff

counters things like this outside a courthouse

I don't follow any religion. Think they're all money grubbing and love telling people what to do. But see the bold part? That is what many atheists want. They want to confine religion to the home and be left completely out of the public sphere. No sign of religion anywhere. What's to stop an atheist from putting up a flag that says religion is abuse towards children? From saying that at a park? Meanwhile, religion must "go home".

Well we have to let the secular progressive left put up the idol to their “god” that moves around in response to the honoring of our God.

sorry, you don’t have to be on the left to be secular. Your imaginary friend is your business, don’t expect anyone else to bow to your bs.

because most religions command their followers to go forth and spread and promote their faith.

As long as they are going to fly a flag of any other religion, as well as any type of pride flags, then I am alright with a Christian flag flying temporarily as described. To allow different groups access to the use of the pole is neither discrimination not the establishment of any given religion. It would only be in the refusal to fly flags of other religions in which those principles are violated.

We're any of those other flags other religions. If Boston refused all religious flags, then refusing the Christian one is not discrimination. But I see no mention of what other flags were flown.

It's not like they cannot create one. But before it can be claimed as religious discrimination, you have to allow some, but not others.

Constitution doesn't say anything about gay flags, but it does mention religion, but even there the clause (amendment) refers only to laws Congress can make in favor for, or against religion. I don't see a problem with the flag

I don't think they're claiming it's "religious discrimination". The claim is that it is viewpoint discrimination, by allowing some private flags, but not this Christian one.

Things must be well if people have nothing more important to complain about.

I can see your argument, but I still have to side on the point of the constitutional edict of separation of church and state. It's an either or thing here. Either all religions can fly a flag, if they ask, or none can. This is a case where the religious can't be compared to the non-religious.

The Constitution doesn't say separation of Church and State and it guarantees freedom of religion not freedom from religion.
