They're not 10 years ahead of us if we're using the exact same equipment they're using in their own country, i.e. Hikvision surveillance cameras.

I mean in terms of the intent and usage of that data.

There is not a single section of any street in Shanghai without a facial recognition camera in view. In that sense, they are about 10 years ahead of us.

Forget about Shanghai, what about London?

The content of what I was saying was contained in the quotes that followed. Didn't you read them?

London probably has more cameras than Shanghai.

You haven't said what the problem is. All you have said is that there are lots of CCTV cameras in London

Here are the quotes again that followed my statement that London has more than enough cameras. Please read as follows:

And do you know this for a FACT?

And are you also suggesting that we WILL be doing the exact same thing in 10 years time and that we're going down the exact SAME ROAD?

Chinese police are using facial recognition sunglasses to track citizens

These hi-tech glasses are remotely linked to A.I. databases with lists of suspects. The officers wearing them can instantly see who to apprehend.

The UK media continually spouts the line that facial recognition is still largely experimental and there are ongoing debates as to how accurate it is. But this is probably just BS. In China you can even pay for goods using facial recognition, that's how sure they are of it's reliability.

But anyway, it's the case that the UK has imported thousands of these made in China facial recognition cameras and they are being used at this very moment.

And just to reiterate the point that these cameras can conduct behavioural/emotional analysis via A.I. systems. They can build a database on all of our behaviours to create a GOOD CITIZEN/BAD CITIZEN SOCIAL SCORE.

This is exactly what is happening in China right now.

People are told off for even jaywalking. It will be happening here SOON.

This is what the Hikvision facial recognition cameras apparently often look like.

Cameras like this are a familiar site in the UK but I wouldn't know for a fact whether the cameras in use in the UK would have the identifier "Hikvision" written on them or not.

Being linked to the internet they are linked to a wider national, possibly international network.

Using statistics and A.I. learning, it's possible these cameras can see and detect things that the human eye cannot. It's a spooky thought, but such is the progress of technology.
