    Let's recap.

    * Showed up late, sans masks, so no time to get COVID tests.
    * He and his party refused masked offered.
    * His party refused to socially distance in audience.
    * He made fun of Biden's mask "the biggest mask I've ever seen" (while look unwell).
    * Press release that Hicks tested positive (which I think was a lead-in to announcing his positive test).
    * "Stand back and stand by" to Proud Boys (weak-kneed denouncement only on the heels of Wallace's pressure).
    * Standard Trump insults (Biden's intelligence, mask, pandering, etc.).

    What's not to love? /sarc.

Rriigghhtt the Parties don't need any bipartisan commissions. They're all corrupt anyway. We can trust the GOP.

Of course I'M biased, I've always been biased and never claimed to be anything else I'm NOT the Debates commission though, which has been around for over 50 years and never been reliably accused of any real bias.

But they're now corrupt, because they won't suck Trump's mushroom.

God Almighty, HOW did we get here?

They wanted the ultimate pitchman. They got it, but only to the gullible. They need to go back to actors. They knew how to sell.

They picked a Biden lackey to moderate one of the debates in 2020. They're not credibly non-partisan anymore.

He's still the only GOPPER I can listen to for more than 60 seconds at a time without a tiny bit of vomit in my mouth.

Nikki Haley probably wouldn't be that offensive, especially in a debate format.

    Yep.................... that's about it...

It’s time to evolve, for sure. First, give the debates back to the League of Women’s Voters who originated them. I don’t remember any complaints while they were running them. Second, open the debates to all candidates who can get on enough state ballots to achieve the 270 electoral votes required for election to the presidency. This would have been limited to 4 parties in 2020, Republican, Democratic, Libertarian and Green Party. The first three were on all 50 state ballots while the Green Party made it on enough states to be able to achieve 305 electoral votes. Enough to win the presidency.

With 3 debates, the qualifications in electoral votes in each debate might be, 1st debate, minimum of 270. 2nd debate 400 required, the Green Party would have been eliminated from the 2nd debate. 3rd debate, all 50 states, 538.

It’s time we allow more voices in our debates than just the two major parties who have a monopoly on our electoral system. We’re the only modern democracy which doesn’t have multi parties. We’re way behind the times.

As for withdrawing from the presidential debate commission, I don’t blame the GOP. They were certainly biased. Therefore I’d give the debates back to the League of Women’s voters with the above changes.

Nice. That would be a welcome change. I hate the 2 party system, so the more views the better. At least early on. I think we should simply have run offs until someone gets 50% +1 Vote.

They are all corrupt. At last we agree on something. Worthless unnecessary and biased government agency. We don't need it.

My idea on that 50% plus one since we do have 50 smaller election instead of one huge one. Electoral college wise, if a candidate received 50% plus one vote, a majority in any state, they would get all that state’s electoral votes. Now if a candidate won by a plurality, not a majority, the winner of the state by plurality would receive the 2 electoral votes for the number of senators, but all the rest would go to congressional districts. The winner of a congressional district gets that district’s electoral vote. Like Maine and Nebraska do today. No more winner takes all if a candidate didn’t receive 50% plus one vote.

I too am sick and tired of the two party system, my disdain for both is high.

I think the DNC set up that scam job. But, the PDC put up giant partisans like Candy Crowley and more. In the end, the Republicans have continuously placed their complaints, been blown off, and have had enough. Their timing is spot on with them way ahead for 2024. They really don't need the PDC or debates. I think it would be a shame if they didn't have them, but get why the Republicans are finally taking a stand against the bias.

Yeah .. and it would be nice if they asked meaningful questions - rather than questions that beg platitudes such as "Do you support our military"

    2 1/2 hrs:
I would like four questioners, two sent from each party - DNC and RNC. And four moderators, each working 30 minutes.
At 2 hours, a ten minute meeting of the mods for a twenty minute session deeper into the answers the two parties are most apart from.

That would be far more fair.

It seems the membership hear could put together a far more effective and fair debate environment.

It doesn’t matter. They ignore the questions and just quote from the stump.
