I responded to your specious point care to address that?
This is how fascism and violating our rights start.

You dodged. And now you go back to the accusations of fascism that you can't defend. I've asked you to show such fascism. I've asked you to show such rights violations. You ran away and hid. Just like you are doing again now.

So you agree: the article states the truth re: the scope of the 'misinformation' board.

You really don't know how that works?
I've seen the technique used a lot. Flashy headline, paragraph after paragraph of deceptive info, and a nugget of truth hidden down at the bottom.
Then, read the responses in this thread. Tell me you don't see what I mean.
They know most people only read the headline, and maybe a paragraph or two. It's intentional, I try not to fall for it.
    Feel free if you want.

What's the scope of the 1st Amendment restrictions? So far the answer looks like, "there are none."

I'm not a right winger but I believe in free speech. Changing the subject to ritual Trump hate is what democrats often do to change the subject and avoid taking responsibility.

What free speech rights are being violated?

You pretend as if this board has already been in existence and is functional. Here is what I see. Give it a year or two and a Dem Congress which now holds hearings and the commissioner appears and list all the "disinformation" and says something MUST be done. So they get addional power or with a Biden president he just issues executive orders shutting down the sources of this "disinformation". The governemnt has no business playing the role of the omniscient arbiter of information.Never read 1984?
Tell me what you think they will be up to and how they will be doing it.

Ah, so you now say it will be a year or two before you have a point. I've asked how the government is being the omniscient arbiter of information. You ran away. Yes, unlike the righties in this thread, I actually read 1984 instead of just pretending to and then screaming like a lunatic every time I saw a name I didn't like. Unlike the fringe right, I treat things like fascism seriously. Not just as a turn-my-brain-off-and-scream-at-the-sky excuse to play make-believe and fap to fake victim narratives.

When I saw the headline I assumed it was a board to govern the dissemination of government disinformation.

That all depends on what kind of authority the new ministry of truth has.

Personally, this a horrible idea, no matter what kind of authority they have. Even if the ministry of truth has zero authority, the IRS, FBI and ATF do and the bureaucrats in the ministry of truth could sick one of the alphabet agencies on whomever the ministry of truth is sideways with.

No... I think it's way past time... Certainly as needed as a "Spaaaaaaaaace Force"

And for the umpteenth time, this isn't an AGENCY... it's probably a tiny board within an already existing HUMONGOUS agency...

Once this hair-on-fire moment dies down, this will likely be the last you ever hear of it...

At the very least it seems it will have a chilling effect on political speech.

I'll have further more specific complaints as they roll out more than just the name and generalized mission statement.

It is an agency as it's a division of the Department of Homeland Security.

Now that is something I can see as a legitimate complaint, depending on how it is rolled out. Chilling matters, even if it isn't overt attack on free speech.

Isn’t that the media’s job? But I guess when we have organizations like the Times, Post, CNN, MSNBC, etc, then calling them out might be a good thing. Do you think this new government agency will come out and say whites people aren’t the most lethal threat to America?

Ok. I'll put you down on the side that thinks this Board is a waste of time and money. Thanks.

Well, if your political speech is pushing Russian or migration misinformation, perhaps that should be chilled a little...

That's fully wrong, but you're welcome....

I think the Board has a strange name... that's my only complaint with it so far (and I suspect the primary source of all complaints so far)

Do you want the government telling you what disinformation is? I don't.

You dodged my question. Why won't you answer my question? I asked you first. If you answer mine, I'll answer yours, and the answer to both is very, very easy.
