Welcome to reality in 2022. Students run into this stuff in everyday life. They have plenty of opportunities to smoke pot, have sex, etc. because somebody's parents aren't home. I spent my time in history courses where current events is part of the curriculum presenting stories about young women trolled by pimps in our local shopping malls. Girls are given free drugs until they're hooked. I shouldn't have to street proof students because no one else, including their parents, wasn't shedding light on what's going on.

Is the book on the curriculum? I'm darn sure it isn't, and I'm positive the vast majority schools have nothing like it as assigned material.

Groom them for what? You don't turn straight people into homosexuals by having them read a book with homosexual sex.

Are you another type who thinks a story like the one spoken of here "grooms" heterosexuals into homosexuality? Egads. Where do you people get these ideas?

I posted the Bible crack knowing you're not. Ironic, right? You're investing quite a lot of keystrokes pounding your chest that you're not Not NOT a Christian! Looks like I've touched a nerve. Which was sort of the point from the jump.

    Mission accomplished.

The kid was required to memorize parts of the book and then act it out. So the book was approved of by at least a teacher.

Kids are impressionable, if you normalize this insane behavior at a young age then you’ve achieved what the Nazis did with their Hitler youth. The hitler youth went on to murder people. If you can normalize mass murder then normalizing everything else would be easy.

Wow. You and your views on "teaching" are the problem. History courses should be limited to history and void of what you believe children need to be street proofed

Not quite. You've conflated 2 separate examples cited in the OP. The 1st was the 15 yr old girl. She was instructed to memorize, recite & act out a pornographic scene that was written by another student. We still don't know what was in the text, because the Clark County School District won't permit it to be disclosed. Makes one wonder what they're hiding.

The 2nd is the Amazon Teacher's Pick novel All Boys Aren't Blue. Iowa Gov Kim Reynolds was able to shame the school districts in her state into tossing the book, by reading one of its explicit scenes during a tv interview that was broadcast in her state, after hearing about it from concerned and outraged parents.

I’m one who says no to teaching kids in grades K-3 anything at all about sex and sexual identity of any kind. State legislators, school boards, teachers, leave our kids alone on those matters. It’s strictly a up to parents alone to decide what to introduce their kids to and when at least that long

We actually did blowjob and anal sex classes in gym. It was between the basketball and swimming chapters.

That's hysterical. The lack of (self) awareness even more so. The inability to fathom how your sanctimonious scorn & derision is feeding into the impending November bloodbath is a little breathtaking. But I'm cheering you on every step of the way!

As someone who leans that way (& voted that way in 2016) I can respect a 'live & let live' worldview. To a point. School boards & lib teachers - aka The State - cutting parents out of the loop of what/how their kids are being taught are the antithesis of libertarianism. It's what got Terry McAuliffe flushed down the toilet in Deep Blue Live & Let Live Virginia.

As an aside, if you think a GOP rout will get you closer to libertarian policy initiatives, you're giving them far too much credit. Don't know if that's your calculus, but your support for porn in school puts you squarely on the side of the groomers who are getting their heads handed to them in November.

Oh oh oh oh. I’ll bite. I supported porn in school, when, exactly?

OKAY, GROOMERS: National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) Guide Advises Against the Use of “Parent,” “Male,” Female,” “Mother” and “Father.”

"mothers are now referred to as “persons with ovaries” in reference to reproduction cycles while fathers are now “persons with testes.” Additionally, the association declares the move of various states toward “Sex verification in sports” as an example of oppression."

"Under the new guidelines, teachers are encouraged to drop terms like “male” in favor of “XY individuals.”"

"The NSTA suggests that this can be a fun exercise like having students come up with an entirely new name for the word “parents,” such as “gene-givers” or “biological life transmitters.” This is not likely to be viewed as a fun exercise by some teachers or students, including those with opposing deeply religious views."

"Father’s Day cards to be converted into “Happy Person with Testes Day.”"

When did Animal House take over "science"?

Perhaps I've misinterpreted one or more of your posts. Let's not leave it open for interpretation: do you defend the Clark County teacher's assignment to the 15 yr old girl? Do you think All Boys Aren't Blue should be made available to adolescents in American schools?

You're the authority on lying on this board:
I breathlessly await your defense of that lie about me.

    Bueller?

You've already admitted you believe teachers are trying to talk kids into being transgender. Sheesh...you're so emotional you don't even remember your own argument.

Nope. I said teaching trans to k-3rd graders is questionable. Clark County student is 15, and we don't know what she was forced to recite. Because your fellow groomers are keeping it under wraps. But keep on distorting/lying about what other people say. You're exceptionally good at it.

Since my entire course was online, including my explanation of how instruction matched up with the curriculum, I couldn't have any credibility with parents if I ignored what I was supposed to be doing.
I don't make or agree with the curriculum that says I should spend 10% of the course on current events. My contention is that a history course inevitably deals with current events as part of how we explain the past.

Every parent was made aware of my course materials.

So, why shouldn't I have street proofed high school students at the same time I covered current events?
