because every now and then you’ll get to go to a real crime in progress, and unless your supervisor is a total numpty you’ll probably save someone’s life. It doesn’t help that criminals get right back out, making the job of law enforcement that much harder.

Wow. Really an impartial argument there. Some cop must have really put you thru the wringer. Was it a parking ticket? 35 in a 25?.
Did some cop take away your partner?
Tell us where they hurt you?

Criminals do not "get right back out". From what you have argued, the police don't have to protect, merely write tickets, have auto immunity, are trained, well paid with pension, yet it is a difficult job. That doesn't sound difficult.

In this world Liberals have created where Police need to make sure they have all their T's crossed and I's dotted or else Democrats will be screaming DEFUND! the Police, I can understand why officers would be hesitant to barge in until they fully knew what was going on. Had the shooter been Black, BLM would have been screaming for their heads on a platter no matter how many kids were killed. Welcome! to Bidens Liberal America. Maybe BLM should have reimagined policing and sent Social Workers to negotiate with Salvator Ramos first.

when the police lie to the public, the good police should speak out - the public was lied to at first, was this standard operating procedure?

then when caught they said could not comment

then when they know they could not stop the public backlash they started talking about it again

that said, I agree, the one that told them to stand down is most at fault for this

DPS admits that they screwed up and said that he would gladly apologize if it would do any good, but, that's the problem with screwing up at this level in a high responsibility position, the consequences are far beyond what can be adequately dealt with, with an apology. I do not see law enforcement officers outside of this department covering for these guys or trying to spin their screw up. It would be unbelievable that they did this, outside of the obvious fact that there is no denying it. The IC blew the call and then the other officers followed him in his error, until the Federal Border Patrol finally did what should have been done immediately, by going ahead without the IC's permission. Law Enforcement is under no duty to follow an unlawful order. Once Law Enforcement acted appropriately, the threat was stopped in 13 minutes. Unfortunately it was allowed to go for 90 minutes and innocents were dying at an average rate of one every 4 minutes.

WHILE THE TOWN’S SWORN OFFICERS COULDN’T GET THEIR THUMBS OUT: Off Duty BORTAC Agent Drove 40 Miles To Storm the Uvalde School and Take Down the Killer.

"The more that comes out about the botched police response in Uvalde, Texas, the worse it looks for the local cops. It turns out that while UPD officers waited for a key or some such nonsense, an off-duty Border Patrol tactical agent drove 40 miles from having lunch to storm the school and neutralize the social misfit killer."

"The BORTAC Gigachad who breached the school, neutralized the shooter, and had a bullet grazed his scalp in the process."

"Not only did the Border Patrol agent not get to finish his lunch, he needed staples to close a grazing bullet wound to his head."

The town spends 40% of their funds on the police. Clearly, they are not getting their money's. Perhaps the police department should hold a press conference asking for more? Or next time just lie and trick the cops into thinking it's a no knock warrant. The door would have been down in 5 minutes.

Would you like a link to the list of murders local to myself that occurred while the criminal was out on bond? It's quite popular. You should just try doing the job and report how easy it is. Seriously, do some ride-a-longs they'll treat you with kid gloves but you'll see a few things that might be interesting.

I've called them out when they're FOS, and I've noted when they were probably not. That said, I do not trust what I read in the media for even a moment. It could very easily look like someone said this and the story changed because the people reporting it don't give a **** about accuracy. Did someone lie in this instance?

Probably. Watch command didn't act with what we in hindsight would say is the right move. There was going to be backlash on this no matter what happened. If that clot didn't kill kids and the cops went in and smoked this tranny looking kid with a gun they'd still have crucified them. There is no winning at that job, and I would not expect them to save me knowing what I know.

'Cowards': Uvalde Cops Face America's Wrath Over Bungled Shooting Response

Police are facing heavy criticism and being labeled "cowards" for their response to the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, this week.

A total of 19 children, two adults and the alleged shooter Salvador Ramos were killed amid the shooting on Tuesday. Outrage has erupted online and on cable news after it was revealed that local police went inside the building minutes after the gunman entered unchallenged but quickly retreated and took cover. Ramos was killed by border patrol agents more than an hour later.

Texas Department of Public Safety (TDPS) Lieutenant Chris Olivarez told CNN that police did not engage with Ramos further due to concerns that they would have taken fire and officers "could have been shot." The word "cowards" trended on Twitter in reference to the police after news of the delay emerged.

"The Uvalde police were a bunch of gutless cowards who shamed their badges," British TV personality Piers Morgan tweeted on Friday. "Heads should roll, and some of them should be charged with criminal negligence. They let those kids die."

"Republicans, Democrats, Independents and I think everyone agrees that the Uvalde police are cowards, liars and should be in prison themselves," tweeted conservative pundit Carmine Sabia on Thursday. "They are complicit in the deaths of these children."

You look pretty silly standing around and not trying too. There was one off duty BP officer that brought a shotgun from someplace and he somehow gained access to the shooter and killed him. Makes the argument that they couldn't get through the door and were outgunned a bit suspect.

There is no defending this tragedy, the people there knew the cops were screwing up, they had to put cuffs on parents it was so obvious, they were upset the cops were doing nothing

then the cops misled the public, tried to cover it up

"'I am livid.' Gov. Abbott says he was misled about police action during Uvalde shooting"

    https://www.statesman.com/story/new...e-school-shooting-police-response/9968317002/

""I was misled," Abbott told assembled reporters. "I am livid about what happened. I was on this very stage two days ago, and I was telling the public information that had been told to me. ... I wrote down hand notes, in detail, about what everybody in that room told me in sequential order, about what happened.""

this was not a small lie... this was a attempted coverup imo

"The governor added that he expected investigations by the Texas Rangers and FBI "to get to the bottom of every fact with absolute certainty.""

    agree with the Governor

when the watch commander says you don’t go in, tell me what the officer is going to do. I don’t think they were outgunned, where did you read an off duty guy snuck past the other guys and unlocked the door and solved the problem?

I’m willing to accept what dps reveals as the exact sequence and final report. I think it’s going to say they were told to stand down, and eventually went in. If there was a cover up, that guy should be ******* roasted.

you will last about one week doing John Wayne **** as a police officer, this is true.

i agree 100%. Public opinion is **** because people with no understanding will make poor decisions. This will fall on the watch commander as it should, not the guys who, trust me on this, wanted to go in there and pull that guys heart out through his ***.

I didn't say it happened like that but it was an off duty Border Patrol officer that ended the problem with a shotgun he got from a bar

Send whatever info you think is necessary.

That said, I expect my law enforcement to always be there, and least of all afraid when it gets ugly.

that’s what I’ve been on about.
If you show up to the scene and the WC says hold your corner, you have to.

now, if the guys show up and are told get in there finish this and they stood around with their richards in their hands then I have a massive problem with that and I’ll call them cowards.

    https://abc13.com/feature/harris-county-bond-system-repeat-offenders-houston-crime/11250980/

i can’t say if this is normal around the country but down here we’re getting hammered by these people.
