People in this country care more about being able to get guns than they do peoples lives.

We are an exceptional country with exceptional freedoms. That must not change because of some nut.

I watched it. i bet you guys would never click on a FOX link
This just shows how righties are way more accommodating
    Anyway, my take
Other then what they did in Britain which was to take away peoples ability to defend their homes I do t see anything wrong with what they did in Australia
Most of these masa shootings are done with the same gun so some of what they did makes sense. Then again I’m not a hardcore gun advocate so I’m not the majority of righties
Also I see you making many threads about these shootings but what is your plan to get guns out of the hands of thugs in “gun free” chicago where people are getting gunned down left and right?
Does that break the democrat code to talk about THOSE shootings?
    Hmmmm

So... a dictatorial, tyrannical government takes away the right of law-abiding citizens to defend their own lives and property by the use of deadly force? And this is some kind of laudable 'solution'...? Oh, yeah -- the NAZIS thought so, too!

[IMG]. "You guys don't need guns anymore -- my government will protect you...!"

    I disagree.
Every country and person has exactly the same freedoms.
None of them exceptional in any way.
    The differences are about restrictions.
People are restricted by morality or the rule of law, however reasonable or unreasonable that may seem.
Why isn’t there ‘freedom’ to drive on any side of the road you feel like?

Oh sure, I can totally understand how driving directly into traffic is an equivalent here. Thanks!

I think you will find that in the UK people don’t require special weapons to defend their homes because they don’t live constantly in fear of attack.
Even the general police officers don’t carry guns.

It is a philosophical question about the nature of ‘freedom’ and what the word means.
To declare anywhere has exceptional freedoms is meaningless.
Freedom is the same starting point for everybody.
    The differentials are about restrictions.
Americans should understand that concept because in the past they have used chains to restrict other people.

A philosophical question in a thread where someone is looking for some kind of reality seems a little out of place. I'm pretty sure every country and culture has used chains, metaphorically or otherwise, to restrict people.

It's probably nice to recognize that we as Americans have freedoms that others have given away, they've traded a superficial feeling of security for their freedoms like servants. That's so sad, they wait for their gov to tell them what they can and cannot do.

BS the US was barely a democracy under Trump according to Polity and Freedom House. We have actually lost rights recently.

The right secured by the 2nd Amendment is not unlimited. We could do something similar to Australia. This is purely a political will issue.

Yes, the US ranking low compared to OECD countries clearly proves the superiority of the US in providing “freedoms”. Question: why do we have rights?

I think most governments don't sit outside for an hour and beat the parents. Nor do they also aid/know about the shooters intent well before the event in question.

    I was replying to:

'We are an exceptional country with exceptional freedoms. That must not change because of some nut.'

Those are not the words of someone looking for some kind of reality.

Oh... you don't like the "Nazi" comparison? Then how about another oasis of enlightened gun control -- NORTH KOREA!

We need POLICE OFFICERS to be stationed at American public schools, not just "School Resource Officers" (is this some kind of 'social-worker'...?). Fight FIRE with FIRE, or else the innocent people are the only ones who get burned.

Ah, so you're judging the value of freedom here based on the low priority of freedom elsewhere.

Rights are made up, ask Carlin.

I was wondering when a MAGA would release a reference with Hitler and guns.

    You are the winner.

All western nations have stricter gun laws than the US.

    All.

And they are all still democracies.

On the other hand, MAGA's like you have tried to overturn the elections and turn this country into a dictatorship.

    Like Hitler in 1933.

Even with the police they waited outside for an hour. Now there is an investigation for a retried FBI agent involved with the Buffalo shooting for knowing about it. It could possibly be "Dan" who told the Buffalo shooter to make a manifesto. The police of today are citation givers and speed trappers. They're not there to protect and serve. They're there to collect a pension, paycheck, and not there to collect bullets. When it does come to a shooting take a look at the UPS van driver who was held hostage. The police used civilians and their vehicles as cover as they spray hundreds of rounds in a busy highway killing the hostage. While civilians took flak from the shooter.

I'm tempted to report your post to a moderator because it is nothing but a carelessly strewn, groundless accusations of a purely personal nature -- but I'm not that chickenshit.

I will tell you that I'm NOT a "MAGA", NOT a Republican, NOT trying to overturn any elections, and NOT trying to turn the United States into a dictatorship. *Once upon a time, along with a lot of other loyal Americans, I took an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States from ALL enemies, 'foreign and domestic'... would either include you?*
