Then you've seen the astonishing economic growth.

China is in demographic suicide. The future belongs to those that reproduce.

A rapidly aging shrinking workforce trying to support a growing mass of elderly is already beginning to sap their vigor. I doubt it's reversible.

I did. It’s why I smile at those who get their information from the mass-media.

Due to advances in medical science and absence of world wars, all populations everywhere have increasing numbers of elderly.

China has a completely different way of looking after its elderly. I can’t remember whether it’s the oldest or youngest in the family, but they are obliged to look after their elderly parents, not the state. In Asia in general, the elderly are respected and aren’t dumped in care homes for others to look after. It’s not unusual for three generations to live together in one house. It's a cultural thing and something I support 100%.

With China's one child policy, in most cases that's one child caring for two parents, and with the male/female imbalance, it very well could be a single son, so, I don't know where the 3rd generation would come from. In either case, that's not the building block of a rising power.

Don't be silly. Of course it is reversible by lifting the one child policy.

The U.S. is in decline because it has been under systematic attack from within and without for decades.

The U.S. is being brought to heel by the globalist, international bankers - who have been using communism, "free trade", and corporate flight as a truncheon to manipulate American public opinion with war, terrorism, espionage, corruption, subversion, demoralization, inflation, indoctrination, etc.

Sh!t rolls downhill... the globalists have been working to get us here for 100 years - we've finally arrived at the end game.

Hardly assumptions if I lived there. The assumptions come from those who haven't and get their opinions from the mass media. :)

What you so conveniently ignore is that China puts the power of the state ahead of the individual. That is anathema to western democracies and no amount of cheap prices can compensate for the loss of personal freedom.
Perhaps you are happy to give up freedom for security, but I'm not.

The USA was not damaged by WWII, so it was the world economic power until at least 1970 or 1980. (Back then Japan produced all of the cheap products.) Also, the upper income tax rates were much higher (70 to 95%). We built roads, bridges and schools. College was cheap. Life was good.
Then we got the wisdom of "trickle-down economics". Since then, infrastructure has faded, college is too expensive, wealth disparity has mushroomed, and the middle class has decreased.
We cannot compete with China for the cheapest products, so we must compete with China in a different way. The rest of the world needs to side with us because we are the happiest, healthiest, best educated, caring, productive nation on earth. We need to provide for every American the best education, health care, security, and opportunity, so that we have the best scientists, engineers and technicians, and we have the healthiest, happiest, productive citizens.
The Chinese workers will gradually move toward the middle class like the Japanese did, but we cannot wait for the change. We need to invest in our own future. We need to invest in our number one resource - our own citizens.

China has a one child policy, except for minorities, for a reason. Can you image a population in excess of 1.5 billion having three or four children in the next generation? Who would find them work? How could they feed that many people?

Yes, in China the state definitely comes before the individual. But if you look around you, at the poverty, the tent cities, the unemployed … Half of the US is gradually realizing that freedom doesn’t count for much if you don’t have security.

Judging by your knowledge, I'd say you haven't lived there recently.

I’m not suggesting China is some sort of utopia. The bureaucracy is a nightmare. But in the past couple of decades it’s lifted tens of millions out of poverty and unrestrained capitalism which cheers individual greed has put the same amount into it. I’ve no doubt that if Wall Street descended on China tomorrow, it would look like a third-world basket case in a few months-time instead of a rising economic power.

Isn’t that a major problem now as the have nots want their share of the apple pie industrial era which has now ended? How many of the millions in poverty are asking for more ‘freedom?’ How many on low wages or living on the streets are cheering for the American dream?

What I’m saying in the op is the Chinese saw what was happening in the west and found ways to prevent those at the bottom of the economic ladder being a drain on society. It harnessed capitalism for the benefit of society, not just for the few and produced what a dog-eat-dog unrestrained capitalism hasn’t been able to do in centuries.

Judging by your perspective it would appear you have an agenda to fulfill.
