Are we trying to play the victim card? Rich white males have been overwhelmingly the ruling class in this country forever They have been the decision makers for diverse groups of people and those people don't think they have been fairly represented. Now they are complaining about the lack of representation and being uppity, demanding action. A certain minority of the white community feels threatened by this.

Why are people defending violent insurrectionists?

Please share your list of people who have been convicted of violent insurrection.

IOW, you are unable to find even one example of the Proud Boys initiating violence.
I am actually surprised. I bet you are too. ;-)

Throwing chum for the mods is not substantive rebuttal.

They have been convicted in the court of my opinion. I suppose you see them as patriots.

So, you are ok with our educational system indoctrinating students to certain beliefs? What's wrong with knowing that a particular school leans far left or far right? As a parent, I would want to know that before sending my kid there.

And there we have it. You’re using diversity as a code word to get the result of less whites in power and more of everyone else.

    Just like I said.

Your title and claim in the OP is fake news. Have you issued a retraction? Students polled but there are zero provisions that require them to state anything.

Dodge much? Anyway, I think DeSantis is using this just to puff up his right-wing resume, because his statements about weeding out "indoctrination" by polling students and faculty are just so much bullshit. He is just using this to hook low info conservatives. Grandma and gramps thinks this sounds like a great idea!

The title of your topic and the claim in the OP is fake news. It's not even supported by the link you included.

The State Legislature making sure the taxpayers money is funding education where both students and staff feel free to hold and communicate divergent views is perfectly proper.

I don't love it. It is senseless and useless. The idea of cutting funding for schools that teach political ideology of any stripe, on the other hand, makes a lot of sense to me. It is clear what schools should teach. Schools have been teaching academics since time immemorial.

Oh don’t worry. That minority is growing larger every day. Moreover they’re getting more pissed off by the day. So enjoy your time because your diversity reign is soon coming to a swift and painful end that will be excessively detrimental to those minorities. Enjoy.

"They shall not replace us...they shall not replace us" It sounds like DHS needs notified.

    Care to revise your post?

Fact check: Liberal website changes headline that falsely said DeSantis signed a bill that forces students to register their political views

Washington(CNN)The liberal website Salon has changed a headline that had falsely said a bill signed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis forces Florida's students and professors to register their political views with the state.

The 2021 law does require public colleges and universities in Florida to administer annual surveys on the subject of "intellectual freedom and viewpoint diversity." But contrary to the inaccurate initial Salon headline, the law does not require anybody to register their political views. Students and faculty members can decide whether to participate in the surveys, which are anonymous....

...Salon executive editor Andrew O'Hehir said in a Thursday email that while another Salon editor had defended the initial headline back in 2021, the publication recently took another look and concluded that the headline "conveyed a misleading impression of what the Florida law actually said, and did not live up to our editorial standards."

I used theHill.com with a link and its headline was:
Florida Gov signs law requiring students, faculty be asked their political beliefs
    My headline was:
DeSantis signs law requiring students and faculty state their political beliefs

It requires colleges and universities to survey students and faculty on their political beliefs and you can quibble with my wording if you want.

Quibble means argue over trivial matters such as which version of "there/their" to use, but your change in wording is not trivial. It is the difference between the statement being correct and it being an out-and-out lie. Your wording made it an out-and-out lie.

The law most certainly does NOT require that students and faculty state their beliefs. Such a requirement would undoubtedly be unconstitutional. You have made up that requirement. It is NOT true.

That is not quibbling. It is correctly pointing out that your statement amounts to an out-and-out lie.

And he didn't as Salon noted in their retraction of the story. Their is NO requirement and the survey is anonymous.

DeSantis signs law requiring students and faculty (be asked to) state their political beliefs....There, all better now?

If honesty is the aim, then yes, by that measure it is better now.

That is what De Santis is trying to do. Dictate what is being taught in Florida schools.

That's my understanding, and I am fine with that. But the poster said he was formally questioning teachers and students on their political beliefs. If that is true (and I can't confirm either way) then I have major problems with that.
