    No it's enabling a mental disorder...nothing more.

Oh! My! I did not know I was talking to a mental health professional / sarcasm

So, given your expertise are you willing to lay out a plan referencing known paradigms within the field?

You should know that the time, of such a renowned expert, to do that, does not come cheap.

Considering the current "professionals" validate a grown person as a cat...yes. I am a professional compared to them.

Okay then lay out a treatment plan utilising known paradigms

See it is not enough to say “I fink dis’l work” you have to have a definitive strategy. If the profession you are denigrating is so incompetent then why are they one of the more popular professions on the planet

Oh! And this is a young autistic child

So it's looking like (B) is the winner! (In truth I always suspected (C) was going to be a longshot. :-()

How do you deal with multiple personality disorders? Or multiple personality disorders? I'd start with that treatment and work from there.

    :)

What we don't do is bend reality and society to live within the disorder of the indivual. I reject that and I'm not alone.

Yeah, because people haven’t been able to differentiate between a man and a woman for “centuries”. Give me a damn break.

Support isn't always aquiescence. Sometimes the best support is 'no'.

But then it depends upon your motives. If your motive is to ensure the individual has a smoother path through life, you'll do the hard yards. If your motive is to make your life easier, then aquiescence works. You can always convince yourself it's in the child's interests, if you have a will to protect yourself.

They don't call it tough love because it's tough on the receiver - they call it that because it's tough on the giver.

    Well said.

It serves no one to do so ... least of all the individual with the disorder.

Because middle class kids think psychology sounds cool. It's also relatively easy to get into, and to study.

I think you miss the point (which is doubly ironic given I was intentionally echoing your own words). The question wasn't whether anyone can show you're wrong, it was can you accept the possibility you are wrong.

The problem here is when someone presents an opinion as definitive fact, typically without any rational or evidential basis, than challenges others to prove them wrong. The whole point of being willing to accept you might be wrong (if only in part) is to challenge yourself, ensuring that you are truly speaking on the basis of meaningful facts and evidence rather than emotion, opinion or faith.

The question isn't can anyone else show you're wrong, the question is can you show us that you're right, rather than just declaring you're right and expecting us to automatically agree. I should point out that you're far from alone in this and we can all be guilty of it sometimes. The irony was that you were making exactly this point to other people without apparently considering it of yourself.

Stopping her being what makes her happy will cause mental Trauma, she may harm herself badly to her being a Cat is her world it would be like taking everything she finds safe away from her and cause her mental pain . To her, SHE IS A CAT, to her it's her world, her reality.

No see I can prove I’m right. All we need is a genetic test. They can’t prove they’re right as their position is based wholly upon their feels. That’s the ENTIRE point.

People think and feel what they think and feel. Your argument wasn't that they don't exist, it was that they shouldn't be "placated" as that would be harmful to entire generations and society as a whole. That isn't a statement of fact, it's a statement of opinion. I'm not even saying you're entirely wrong (I think the issue is more complex than any extreme gives it credit for), I'm just suggesting you consider the slightest possibility that you're not entirely right.

Incidentally, what is your opinion of people who "feel" there is some kind of god who defines how we're all meant to behave?

Yes... Thats how we treat mental illness. We indulge delusion. We tell the schizophrenic we see and hear their hallucenations because trying to ground them in reality is somehow more confusing.

You folks are responsible for the destruction of modern society.

Non verbal doesn't mean they can't hear nor read.

The only liberal thing to do now is to get her the appropriate surgeries.
