looks like there are some Europeans with common dang sense. This world spins on fossil fuels like it or not and ignoring that fact will do one thing… make everything more expensive!!!

Good on this company for realizing needs rather than desires.

Theoretically, Germany has installed enough wind and solar to produce 300% of peak demand but in reality it just gets 8% of its energy from wind and solar. The sunlight just isn't that intense nor is Germany a very windy place so it is doubtful those projects will ever produce enough power to off set the carbon costs used to construct them.

If you want reliable power then wind and solar is not the answer outside of maybe 10% of the places on Earth.

They got about 17% wind and 6% solar.
The bulk is still coal. And it could be that they imported some from Russia, but no longer.
So it makes sense to dismantel just a handful of turbines if that means the bulk of it's energy needs keeps on going.

It's not as if they dismantled a massive windfarm.
No doubt you can place them windmills somewhere else.

This is true although they never addressed this in the article. Nor did the company say. However they still recognized the importance of fossil over dreams.

yeah. True that it's not mentioned in the article.
I guess the news aint what it used to be.

But in my humble small opinion... it wouldn't be such a big deal to plant them 8 windmills in a regular farm next door.

And as I posted as well. Coal is still the biggest contributor to the German power grid.
There are no ends made to dreams by just relocating 8 windmills.
You can see that the contribution of coal is decreasing, and windmills are increasing.
But if you can conclude something else: good for you.

I will never understand how clean energy has been villainized by the right wing. He is almost acting like this is some huge “win”

That said, I hate everyone is moving away from nuclear so rapidly. It should definitely have a place to meet energy needs.

So , they are dismantling 8 wind turbines out of 30 000 in Germany, and that makes headline news at FOX. LOL

They do what they have to do until the Ukraine situation is over.

I never understood why their are not walls to help funnel wind or channel it to increase its strength and consistency for windfarms...

Kind of like when you are in a canyon that is naturally parallel to wind direction

All I ever see are windmills in an open field either moving incredibly slow or not moving at all

They had to do it prior to the Ukraine mess apparently or they wouldn’t be in the position they are in now

And they were over 20 years old which is the average lifespan of wind turbines. It's telling that the OP did not include:
Perhaps the link was TLTR for the writer of this op

You misunderstand. It's not a "win." It's not like the right wing is pro-coal or whatever, However it is pro reality, and more than that, this is funny, I think even Gaia would chuckle at that headline.

In general, there is good chunk of any population to trust something new. It's part of our nature.
Lots of people previously had a hard time with switching from a general light bulb to a LED.
But at this stage it get's to be like form of political indoctrination.

The meme is that there is something evil behind the idea of clean and renewable energy, like a conspiracy at their expense. An expense they can not quantify which is scary so they are against it.
While they never thought that the opposite could also be true. What's the deal that others want to cling on to CO2. Who is behind it? Who benefits from not switching to something you can recycle/renew? Can you quantify your expenses of not switching over to something you can reuse? Isn't is scary you can't? What if this all pro fossil fuel business is the conspiracy instead?

Wonder, why it took a nation to go into despair before the realisation of needs, came to be before the wants.

The wording in the headline clearly demonstrates the fact that FOX is instructing their readers to consider it as some kind of "win", which makes sense since they have been vocal in supporting efforts to oppose and ridicule any attempt to generate energy from renewables.

That headline is the same for many media outlets. Germany is still planning on phasing out coal by 2030.

Yes, that is their goal, and 8 turbines out of 30 000 doesn't make any difference.

Have they? Is there a Fox editorial policy to support coal?

They have a policy and long history of promoting RW talking points. You didn't know?

And every other newspaper and news outlet has a long history of promoting LW talking points. My issue is more of when did coal become a RW talking point? I must have missed the meeting.

Yes, you missed it. The "they're killing coal" is one of the RW battle cries.

Yes, they are closing 8 out of 30 000 wind turbines in Germany. Why does that make the headline news in US?

Use the renewables to get hydrogen from water, burn the coal to power homes, collect the carbon monoxide from coal burning to infuse with the hydrogen from the renewables to make synthetic gasoline for cars. ...until more cars can just run on hydrogen.

Looks like the energy from the coal will be more reliable will it not? It’s not like we are on team coal. We’re on team reality. We want cheap energy and wind obviously is not that answer nor was solar or they would still have cheap energy.

Because of why they taking them down. Obviously When energy is needed coal does a better job
