Is the Ukraine-Russia conflict really just a proxy war between the US and China?

Of course they “could”. What I do not believe is that there are tens of thousands of foreign mercenaries fighting for Ukraine. There are not 20,000 Polish troops fighting in Ukraine incognito. as someone else ( not you) claimed.

 

There is absolutely a cooperation between Putin and the oligarchs. Sort of an “honor” system between thieves.

The oligarchs don't control when or if WWIII begins.
The generals do, and Russian generals view the conflict in Ukraine as existential; you and I may disagree, but that changes nothing. When (not if) the puppet government in Ukraine crashes Poles will rush to "liberate" western Ukraine, and Biden will vomit-up "We Must Do Something." What happens next is TBD.

Right from the start we knew that Ukraine is not gonna win, they should not continue fighting because it's only depleting their resources and eventually making Ukraine a poor country in the process.

Unfortunately Zelensky has turned into a puppet of the westren countries that are wasting ukraining lives in order to keep Putin under control.

The best bid for Ukraine is to give up Donbas region and sign a peace treaty with Putin as soon as possible because it is already an attrition warfare for Ukraine and the US will not help them indefinitely, so why are Ukrainians keep fighting and letting Russia to wear them down bit by bit?? It is stupid.
