These attacks come from Gaza where Hamas is located, not the West Bank.

 

The deadliest wars the earth has seen have had nothing to do with religion.

I can guarantee you that more people died in The Crusades than every modern world war combined. If it weren't for religion, we would be 1,500 years ahead of where we are now technologically....

Long story short, almost every major conflict in history has had something to do with religion, however loosely. And that's not even counting the millions who have been killed over the years in random religious attacks, car bombings, suicide bombings, etc. It happens almost every day, and is increasing in certain parts of the world. All due to religious beliefs. Now, multiply that by thousands upon thousands of years of Human history and, yes, more people have died in the name of religion than any other cause....

 

Oh for sure. I just don’t have much confidence that solves anything long term.

 

Ok, so 30 million religions wars vs 230 million in non-religious wars.

Atheists in places like USSR, Mao China and Nazi Germany are by far the deadliest folks.

Indeed they have. Just because I'm not religious doesn't mean that I advocate for atheists, either. They are the same as religious folk, just on the opposite end of the spectrum. I'm agnostic, meaning that I believe there might be a creator or there might not be. It doesn't matter to me either way or affect my daily life in the slightest. I just live my life the best I can and help people out when I have the opportunity to do so. Live and let live. Religious people, on the other hand, aren't willing to do that. Hence the problem....

 

Having said that, you still fail to see the main issue here. Even if every atheist were to suddenly vanish from the face of the Earth, you would still be left with hundreds of religious denominations fighting against each other to the last man over ideology. THAT is the root of the problem....

 

Hamas must be eliminated in it’s entirety. There can’t be anything left to contaminate or indoctrinate future barbarians.

The situation in Israel is not strictly religious, even though the opponents are Jew vs Muslim. Its more political than anything else. Its about land.

 

Again, the root cause is religion. Yes, they are fighting over land, but it's still about religion. The Temple Mount in Jerusalem is one of the most contested places on Earth. Like I said earlier, almost every single conflict on this planet since the dawn of time has had something to do with religion...

 

Hamas is just a symptom. The conflict will only be solved when the driving force for violence is eliminated. The driving force is the squeezing of Palestinians into ever smaller territory. Some Israelis know this:

Unfortunately, Israel is ruled by a large faction of right wing religious nuts, i.e. the orthodox, who want nothing to do with the two state solution, but rather lobby for more and more land grab. Without the orthodox, Israel would be the great country it could be. Secular Israel's per capita contribution to science, art and culture is unparalleled.

 

This. If everyone would simply drop all the religious infighting and bullsh*t, we would be walking on Mars right now instead of chopping off your daughter's head because she's a *insert religion here* wanting to marry the opposite religion....

 

And Israel has been known to kick ass bigtime when it's called for. The Gaza strip isn't that big, they may just wipe it clean. The squad people- of no consequence. No brains, just mouth.

 

To think of how far ahead we would be without religion almost makes me sick. In the past 200 years alone we have went from riding on horseback to flying remote drones on another planet. Just imagine where we would be if religion hadn't stifled technological development for 1,500 years....

 

Even if religion didn't exist, I think the zealots would have found another crusade. It is an act of violence in the name of, not because of religion.

Another righty calling for genocide. Why am I not surprised? Did it occur to you that the vast majority of the 2 million people in the Gaza strip, which is a large outdoor prison, are peaceful and just want a better life for themselves and their families, which is impossible under Israeli occupation? The Gaza strip is basically about double the size of Manhattan and Yonkers, 2 million people live there, basically unable to sustain themselves, because there is no land for agriculture. They are dependent on imports, which Israel controls. What would you do, if you lived in such a hopeless situation?

 

And we should give a damn because.............?
