I think that the next US election will be an indicator of whether or not the voting public still supports Ukraine. The public initially supported Ukraine, but Republicans were the exception. Now we'll have to see if sentiment has changed or if the voters want to punish the politicians who continue supporting Ukraine. What may apply to the US may also apply to Europe. Will the politicians risk being voted out of office? Out of power?

I think that we'll be eating a nuclear bomb in the end regardless of how we act or don't act in the near future. The whole axis of evil: China, Russia, etc. have been planning for this moment as they all expand their territories at the same time and gamble that the USA, Europe, etc. can't or won't stop them and risk a nuclear war.

Possibly. But the Russian military has proven itself to be a joke. Land, air, and sea... it can't beat its way out of a paper bag. It would be stupid to take on NATO. At some point, Ukraine and or Russia will just get too exhausted to continue.

    so, WW3 then.

...or we could tolerate Russia keeping the parts of Ukraine that don't wanna be Ukrainian anyway. You know, the parts that they have now that we can't take away from them without WW3.

But no, I guess waiting for Russia to slowly take the rest of the country, and then have WW3 is what a lot of folks would rather do.

Just for the record: I Do Not Consent.

You have made some valid and realistic points. Europe is seeing the US falter in its assistance to Ukraine due to obstructive political issues, and might have to make some major life changing decisions. One can understand why Macron is thinking this way. THEY realize the threat that Putin poses , if the republicans don't.

"Don't wanna be Ukrainian anyway"??....how's that work?

You mean the 105% voting turnout in the occupied areas?

You do realize there's an active insurgency going on?...in the occupied areas?.....hundreds of Orc conscripts with slashed throats?

Sounds more like theyvdont wanna be RuZZian?

Why all the attacks in Crimea....how's that work?

Not sure which vote you're talking about. But here's one from before the invasion, when Western media was a bit more objective and reliable on the issue.

Russia Keeps Its Distance After Ukraine Secession Referendums - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

It doesnt appear they did necessarily want to be Russian. But they didn't wanna be Ukrainian either. This whole thing could be solved by letting them not be Ukraine's problem anymore, like they've wanted for at least a decade.

Now will you tell me about your support for WW3 to protect ethnic-Russian anti-Ukrainian separatists from being annexed by Russia?

I could see both Russia and China doing limited nuclear first strikes then saying they will stop if the US doesn't retaliate (they would attack a place like Poland, Germany, or Japan). I could see a weak leader like brain dead Biden doing what the demand.

Not one penny for proxy wars and authoritarian regimes but Macron and the other chickenhawks can volunteer anytime.

Yeah I know what you are referring to.....maybe you missed the part about the US and Ukraine violating that memorandum, not treaty, for decades prior to 2022.

Let me guess, couldn't finger "the ukraine" on a map pre-'22? Thought so.

While we're at it, go study up on the NATO - Russia Founding Act.

Violated also by the US and NATO.

How about MINSK I and MINSK II ? Also violated by the US and ukraine.

    Need some more??

Considering neither have started a war in my lifetime but the US/NATO has started almost every conflict since WW2, that whole Bush 'axis of evil' bullshit really just doesn't fly anymore.

There is nothing but some note from a meeting, Bill. Nothing to violate. Certainly no basis for the naZi invasion of Ukraine.

Also not true. All you can really say against the US is it got involved in conflicts it arguably shouldn't have.

Agreed, but they don't run the party any more. Perhaps they will again, but not for the moment.
