If American Christians wants to support Trump for his policy and not his faith or lack of faith, I have no problem with that.

But if someone claim he/s is Christian and then hearing trump says “ I never asked God for forgiveness” , yet they say “ Trump is Christian”, I question if they themselves are Christian.

Christan can debate lot a things, lot a doctrine .. but one simple fact in Christianity regardless which denomination he/s is– “all have sin and need forgiveness from God” . Entire Christianity is based on this principle. There is no “if or But, “.

 

Virtually no one still relies on politicians to tell the truth about anything. I doubt that many Christians who vote for Trump intend to elect a Pope.

I definitely believe that "Asking Forgiveness" is central to being a Christian. This is what confession is all about.

Although there may be some professed Christians who aren't really Christians, I don't think the number is 89%. I think it would be a much smaller percentage. Although the method may vary, most Christian churches have some form of confession. Now once out of confession, most of us go about our daily sin.
