Did anyone tell you the nearest police officer would be 10 miles away. Here in Austin, there is areas that have no police all day long. They tell you to not even bother to call 911.

 

Yes I’m aware that the terrorists would have been armed as well. But here you go assuming that people would not defend themselves. People given the opportunity to choose to live will fight for life. One plane was taken down by passengers that were not armed. I guarantee if all passengers were armed every one of the planes would either have not been hijacked at all or none would have reached their target.

So how was it that the passengers of the unarmed planes were able to do just that? If they done it the others would have done it armed as well.

 

You “get” that banning all guns virtually stopped hijacking’s right? So if there are no hijackings then people don’t HAVE to defend themselves right? I mean prevention IS better than cure.

By the way, the survival rate from a stabbing wound is lower than the survival rate of a gunshot wound.

I'm Pro-gun. I am also Anti-violence, and strongly against violence with weapons.
These are not in conflict at all, because I believe violent people ARE the real weapon behind all violent crimes. Guns or anything used to facilitate the attacks- are just tools.

There are many mass murders in history that killed hundreds even thousands with edged weapons. Knives, swords, spears, bow and arrows. As guns didn't exist, they were the state of the art in weaponry.

This is true because what I said is true- People, not guns, commit murder. They did so long before guns- and even before knives. Every person is armed; fists and feet kill more people than all the rifles, shotguns and long guns put together.

However, of all weapons, the only one that makes a weaker person capable of defending themselves from a stronger one- is the gun.

This is how your female police officer was able to take down a crazed knife murderer without having to draw a knife herself, and physically engage him. IF one of the 6 people killed or the others who were injured had been armed at that incident and courageous enough to use it- it could well be that the only person to die that day would have been the killer.

Yes, guns are powerful weapons. They can be used to kill, and they can be used to protect. IF you don't want the responsibility that comes with that and the training it requires, you shouldn't have one. But if you don't, you rely on either the police- which will usually arrive well after you are attacked, or your own physical capacity to defend yourself. So long as there are threats to life, there will have to be weapons. What matters is who has them. You don't disarm criminals with law- you disarm them with force. People who aren't criminals pose no threat, and laws should focus on those that do.

We perpetuate the violence by pretending the guns are the source of violence, rather than the criminal. Violence is the result of personality and mental factors in certain people. Until we address that, it will continue- and while the choice of weapons may change over time, the violence will remain. It was true before weapons even existed.

 

The 9-11 hijackings were done with box cutters. You really do t know the history you speak of.

 

They kept them at bay with box cutters. They could have easily prevented 9-11 if everyone had guns. That doesn’t change a thing.

 

And those other three would have been far different if the populace on the planes were not sheep and had the tools to become the wolves
