If Trump is convicted, he just might be sent to prison, here's why:

Before today's procedure, voir dire, began, Judge Merchan delivered this message to Trump:

(quote courtesy of The Last Word Show)
Note: in the actual transcript, instead of 'Trump' it says 'THE DEFENDANT'.

Looks like this judge is fully capable of putting Trump in prison. Clearly, he means business.

I suspect Trump is crapping in his diapers.

    Ya think?

Trump, "the defendant" is no longer in full control of the situation and must comply with the rules and decorum of the court. I suspect this really pizzes Trump off as he is such a control freak. He will find a way to be rude and distrustful. He can't help himself. But yes...this is bringing the reality of the situation home to Trump. He cannot run away, delay, dismiss or antagonize his way out of it . He has NO ONE to blame, but himself . But he will be the center of media attention for at least a couple of months.....and will probably use the oportunity to keep campaigning. ( outside the court room with his disparaging commentary.).

Could be why he had his eyes closed - trying to ignore the smell from his diapers

Thing is I doubt he will end in prison - more likely if a person sentence looks inevitable he will be admitted to a home for the permanently bewildered.

It would definitely be quite a show if he buckles under and loses his marbles for the whole world to see (which of course his faithful will ignore anyway).

"permanently bewildered". Love it. Great diagnostic term ;-)

I too doubt he will see jail time. Gosh, I hope I am wrong...but he is a slippery one.

Under his showman facade , I suspect he is scared. Fear translates into anger making him even more unpredictable in behavior. The pressure is on him in a very personal way.

I don't think this trial will result in prison time. A big fine and probation which he'll probably violate on his way out of the court. THAT could cost him some time.
On a side note, what if T**** and Hunter were to be sentenced to prison and the warden in a sick sense of justice made them cell mates?

Now his Florida, D.C. and Georgia trials could get him jail time.

He isn't going to put Trump in jail.

You honestly think the New York state police are going to go head-to-head with Trump's Secret Service detail?

Trump makes the decision that he would like to waive the right to be there, there is nothing in the Constitution which gives the prosecution the right to keep him there. It is only a defendant’s right.

Like the Smith trial.... Trump is the one who calls for a speedy trial.... it is not the prosecutors call..

In bold, this was already happening for a long time already reported a side effect of the years of Adderall abuse. Since, The Apprentice from past reports...as for Merchand putting Trump in The Big House, never gonna happen. EVER.

Maggie Haberman did also yesterday that there was a certain "smell" to the courtroom, so........

If the democrats can pull this off, can you imagine the power they will have over CEO's, and the economy in general.
Statistics: "People are not buying EV's."
White House: "Arrest them for asset inflation. Make them sell at cost plus 5% or charge them."
    DoJ: "Yes, Mr President".

Thanks for making me laugh so hard that i just partially choked on hash browns. I can totally picture that happening and while he's on the cross the left is saying on the news "can you believe he is trying to compare himself to Jesus"
haha, good stuff man, thanks for that

I think this judge is not only fully capable but fully committed to seeing Trump in prison and off the campaign trail. I don't think Trump is that worried because he knows the appeals courts in NY and beyond are far more jurisprudential.

Trump wouldn't even know what the word 'jurisprudential' means, let alone ever use it in a sentence, let alone have a sophisticated enough mindset to even require such a word in his typical incoherent, juvenile utterances.

Whether Trump will be incarcerated will be determined by the jury's verdict, and other facts, such as Trump's contrition, if any (which is doubtful) and any mitigating facts and circumstances, etc.
