Not sure. But how about working on yours first and quit being defensive before you try to get in others business. Have a nice Christmas.

Hey, tksensei, how do you make the green squares in the top right corner of your posts come faster? I notice you are a guru, and you have 2, I only have 1.

I think I may have miscommunicated, I was not trying to defend American culture (even though I am an American), I think German culture is a LOT healthier than ours, sadly though we are winning. MERRY XMAS TO YOU TOO.

Well my point is to show how not just Germany, but a lot of cultures have us beat. We only have the best culture in OUR minds because it was drilled in us since birth. And it is a problem that has let these other countries creep up on us and take over. If we don't stop we have no chance of competing now or ever in the future. Sorry if I came off too strong. But as an American it does concern me that people have these bad habits.

The only reason people are catching up or gaining on us is because we are going towards socialism while they are moving towards capitalism.

Our society is rewarding people for coming up short while other countries are rewarding their people for working hard, going to college, etc.

That would be cause for concern if we weren't already far and away the leading 'culture' in the world.

We've had the largest disparity of wealth between the rich and the poor in our Nation's history. We basically rank up there with Somalia and other third world countries in terms of our wealth distribution. It's embarrassing and we are on our way to a plutocracy. Congrats, all your rich hero's get richer, and we get poorer, and the Nation collapses. All because you want the rich people to keep what they "earn". Please go to school!

Many understand it just fine, and have rejected it.

Seriously, you do not understand it. Especially if you think Obama's policies have been socialists policies... and taxation is considered socialism!

Luckily I have great parents, so I already knew all these things before college.

If I was un-informed like many kids at college, I might have been a liberal. I left my sociology class many times because of the non-sense that was being said. When my teacher started talking about how Marx was such a great man... I had enough.

Unfortunately, it is still a fact that we Americans still stomp out those other healthier cultures, to our detriment.

I think I wrote somewhere here that every country has ~200 years of "warranty", then "consolidates" to disintegrate. The USA has completed her 200 years about now.

A bachelor degree doesn't mean much anymore in this country. The bozos getting them these days is just ridiculous. Its all about that masters and law or doctorate.

I feel that going forward, you are going to need to be "specialized" in a field if you want any sort of job security. I have a degree in business and worked for a large mutual fund company in their middle and back offices for over 5 years. In order to get the job in the first place you needed a college degree. What I saw happening was more and more of those jobs being shipped over to India. I feel that the fact this was happening with a finance company and all the regulations they have to follow with regards to personal information and security is a big deal.

While myself and my co-workers at the time did have college degrees, we weren't "specialized" in the sense that we did something/had the knowledge that could not be done be someone else overseas. I got my CFP license and now work for a wealth management firm. I feel confident that I will not lose my job to someone overseas simply because we build relationships with our clients. You cannot build as strong a relationship if you are over in India.

With that said, I am not saying that you have to become a CFP or a CPA. We will always need mechanics, electricians, plumbers etc. What I am saying is that simply having a college degree is no guarantee in life.

This is yet another problem and I agree with you. One of the mistakes we do is people come to the USA to get the top college education then we as citizens complain and try to get them out of the country. That's actually a waste of training. They just go back to India or whatever and open up an office and create 2500 plus jobs and take our lively hood. If they have the skills they the USA would benefti in having them stay and open up office here and create a bunch of jobs. And you are also right as Americans we are not as likely to get a specialized skill. A lot of that has to do with our k-12 ed. So we are stuck. All we have to do is swith it up a little bit and keep the smart people here ( not by force ) and benefit from the training they got in college. I swear we think a** backwards in the USA.

Just watched a program that said USA has 19 of the worlds top 20 colleges or universities. So our college professors are teaching the curricullum and the information is available. If not people around the world wouldn't come here. But it's how you are able to interpret the info and also progress once you learn it. Foriegn students come to college prepared to advance their secondary ed. American students mostly aren't even ready for college when they graduate HS. So it still goes back to our k-12 being weaker than what other countries are producing. This is not any colleges fault.

That makes no sense considering that the vast majority of students at those colleges are American students.
