Quote: OWS movement Followed by this... Quote: great and pointless Was pretty much...perfect. ___________________ "The Great and Pointless OWS" +1
You should care about the 2012 elections, Polly... Yet, politics is the first thing on the minds of you and your fellow protesters... If you are camping in a park in New York City that might be the case... You should listen to your "us" and "them" rhetoric, Polly. When you get yourselves sorted out, we will still be here for you, baby... No, young people are not always the advance guard of change, Polly, and don't mistake the contempt for your ideas as contempt for your age...
you left out that you walked 3 miles to school uphill (both ways) in knee deep snow from September to June.
I think the point is that elections don't matter. You might get a few bones thrown at you from the Right on issues that don't mean anything, but on important things it's the status quo.
OWS will get to stay until the point the snows come. If that isn't enough, at some point a Right Wing hooligan movement will arise and you'll see hooligans taking to the streets to break left wing heads in the streets to clear out the protest and the cops won't be able to control the violence. I don't want to see "Civil war" in terms of Government taking sides. I want the Government to stand aside and let the right and left battle it out in the streets and break skulls like happened in Tahrir square. let the opposition parties beat one or the other into submission while the cops stand aside to protect private property. Ideally, I'd like to see "Gangs of New York" style battles for social supremacy to decide once and for all where this nation stands ideologically. I don't see any other way of resolving our issues, the differences are too great and there can be no compromise.
so your point is....well there is no point so your goal is...well there is no goal so your intentions are....well we don't know yet so your mission is....well we're not sure yet But we're having a real good time smokin pot in the park, bangin our bongos, having sex on the sidewalk, crappin and pissin all over the place, leaving our garbage everywhere, stinkin up the place with our body odor and bad breath, and we'll continue to do this to every park and town green until the cold weather comes, then we'll slither ourselves back to mommys house and re occupy her basement, leaving the towns and cities to spend millions of dollars to clean up the toilet bowls we've created, while accomplishing absolutely nothing. you must be so proud of yourself. and of course the leftwing is all over this thing and how wonderful it is. absolutely pathetic flea baggers. get a life, get a job and stop stinkin up the place with your useless crap.
redress issues yourself? What does that mean exactly. What issues are you referring to. And what is it that you will do to redress it yourself? What if the majority of americans do not wish to participate in your plan? Do you have plans for those who will not cooperate? Does it involve re-education camps and extermination facilities?
The current administration finds the OWS bunch useful because they think OWS supports them. But if OWS ever figures out that lawmakers on BOTH sides are responsible for the bank bailouts etc, and they move to occupy Washington DC and call for change there instead, they will have outlived their usefulness and it will be open season on them.
I can only imagine the jokes running rampant throughout the offices of the CEO's and the CFO's. From the 50th floor these flea baggers must look like a big army of ants looking to haul off some of the successful peoples crumbs. (which is ironically exactly what they are trying to do). I wonder how many of these big business men have jokingly rung up their secretaries and asked them to call an exterminator. "Joan could you please get Terminix on the phone, it seems we have an ant problem on the first floor." I wonder how many ceo's have opened their windows and said "you want some of my wealth, I'll give ya a little gold...golden shower that is" and these stinky bastards wouldn't even notice the difference. "hey jim it must be raining out again, but its a nice warm rain!!", "gee I don't feel anything over here, you must be in the lucky spot" and so on.
I think when they say declining living standards they mean its not as good as their parents have. This is a sad movement from a selfish generation who were bought up with moderate wealth which fuelled childish greed and expectations which had a starting point of what they saw of their parents - instead of realizing that unless your born into wealth, most everyone else has to start from scratch to get anywhere. Capitalisim is the system which makes that possible, but if people have a sense of entitlement and dont bother learning how to play the system then this is what you get. Lazy whingers who arent getting any younger yet still arent making any effort to look after themselves!!
"Joan, do you think you could make a few phone calls upstate and see if you can get a hold of one of those crop duster pilots for hire? ask him if he can fill his spray tanks with febreeze, its getting a little ripe down on wall street and I'm expecting company today...and as usual money is no object."
"Oh and Joan dear, while your at lunch can you pick me up some microwave popcorn and raisinettes, and hold my calls for the rest of the afternoon. as much as the stench is rather repulsive, it is entertaining to watch from up here"
"Quick Joan get me my binoculars, I think I see one taking a crap behind that tree, take a look for yourself...Amazingly resilliant how he just ripped the sleeve off his shirt to wipe his arse with, pass the popcorn please"
You sound like a bitter old man. It's ok, however, we, the young, cherish your right to say whatever you want. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion! That's what makes this movement so great. People from everywhere, from all political backgrounds, are joining in the demonstrations and letting their voice be heard. Changes always come from the youth who *gasp* eventually run for office on the ideals they had growing up, just in-case you had forgotten that fact. Your life has passed you, old man. Sit on your porch and yell, it's about all you can do! You and your media, that is controlled by the mega rich, cast all things that don't support their corrupted capitalism into a dark light to make whoever is challenging them look vile, negative, and un-american. Unfortunately for you, the educated youth know just how biased the main stream media is and isn't interested in the hate filled programs that comes out of your friends and family over at faux news and other illegitimate news organizations. Keep listening to your Karl Rove's and Rush Limbaugh's and regurgitating their punchlines over and over while we laugh at you and continue to fight for our future, unfazed and undaunted by your words of cowardice and fear.
How long do you think it's going to be before slightly older men than you..say us in our 30's get our ire up and come down on OWS like a ton of bricks wielding sticks and clubs? You think the police are going to protect them? No..they'll get out of the way then when its all over and done with the NYFD will be spraying the blood and urine off the street. When the Hooligans come for the peaceniks.. it won't be pretty.
And yet, Even if the hooligans beat the peaceniks, It won't be without a toll on their number as well. If we resort to bloody violence, Both sides lose in the end. For the rich, Is that small amount of extra profit (that may or may not have been earned through immoral means) worth that bloodshed? Truthfully, I don't think I'd have it in me to kill someone unless they were directly attacking me or my family. I guess that's why I'm ok with 'fighting' this fight through legal means. Of course, It means convincing enough people to agree with my ideals, Which isn't guaranteed. In the end, If the laws are changed to benefit the poor and average american more, What will the rich and the business do? Will they leave? Can they achieve the same or more level of profits catering to other countries? Will they accept what the people have decided? Or will they revolt? In the end, If the businesses and rich can convince enough people to agree with them to enact laws that will widen the wealth gap and cause an increase in abject poor. I think I will respect that decision. Either I will try to immigrate if I can, Or if I cannot then I'll have to survive in the system as best I can. Will the rich do the same? Thank you for your time.
The wealth gap is going to continue to widen no matter what Government does because technology will continue to allow fewer and fewer people to do more and more work in less time. In short, worker productivity will always increase as technology gets better, requiring less workers. What are we supposed to do? Inflict more and more draconian taxes on the few remaining truly productive workers and businessowners in order to subsidize the lives of an unemployable majority? That's not freedom. That is tax slavery.
