The American left hates the American right, that is what lefties do... hate. Then again thats why capitalism works so well, the divide occurs as a measure of wealth. No need to isolate from other countries because your afraid of a few lefties!!

The American left has a rendezvous with civil war coming. Any other society with a powerful left wing should be avoided.

It's just an opinion of a person who is intent on self promotion at the expense of common sense.I'm glad our war time leaders didn't have him as an adviser, as he would have advised the Federal Government that:

    - the Japanese who were coming to NG, via the Kokoda Track, were really only tourists, and consequently. really harmless; and

    - the Japanese planes that bombed Darwin just got lost, and decided, now they were here, they might as well drop their bombs and shot the locals anyway!

Just as well he is only a 'director of historical research at the National Museum in Canberra', and not a real historian!

Its completely illogical for them not to have wanted to invade Australia, especially considering they'd invaded the entire way to Australia and had started attacking Australia at Darwin and all down the east coast with submarines. I hate it when ppl stoop to such low levels for self promotion, shame shame shame.

I think you will find that Australians hate torture and war criminals.

If that is synonymous with the "American right" - then you are probably right.

In February 1942, Japanese Admiral Yamamoto, who had planned the successful attack on Pearl Harbor, proposed an immediate invasion of Australia. ... However, the plan was opposed by Japanese Prime Minister, General Tojo.

    http://www.ozatwar.com/japsland/invade01.htm

As I said: Japan never had any plans to invade Australia

You've contradicted yourself in that post bugalugs!!... and the plan to immediatly invade Australia being binned doesnt mean Japan never inacted a plan to invade Australia in WW2, but at least it shows they had at least one plan.

Breaker Morant was shot for war crimes.

He didn't stick a baton up anyones arse though:
In summer 2004, an Abu Ghraib prisoner described being beaten, slammed against the wall, having his head dunked in water, and being sodomized with a baton until he bled from his rectum.

Can you tell us why the USA refuses to be part of the ICC? Does it just want to be like those other fine upstanding countries like China, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Israel?

I'm sure you all have a lot to discuss. I'll bet that baton up the arse story gets a lot of laughs when the torture club gets together.

I asked you a serious question. Answer it if you can. I don't think you can give me a coherent answer.

Hey they are your words, if you meant to say something else you should of said it, I wont expect you to man up and admit you stuffed up and contradicted yourself. You'll notice I even addressed your intended point which I assumed you might have meant.... so now your just trying to squirm away.

Yes I can tell you. America gains nothing from membership in the ICC. Obama hasn't even proposed it. Not ever going to happen.

I don't understand the uproar caused by this the US should be allowed to send as many soldiers as they want to Australia, the reality of the situation is that the PRC is a very real threat to Australia and it is either 25,000 US marines that will stimulate the economy and provide security in the Asia-Pacific region or over 100,000 Communist PLA forces destroying Australia's democratic fundamentals and I apologize if I have mispelt anything but I am 12 :)

No - America gains nothing from membership in the ICC. They would have to stop torturing prisoners and committing crimes against humanity.

You must be so proud of your country

Across the years, history books and high school lessons have repeated the stories of a Japanese invasion plan, foiled only by the diggers' desperate efforts on the Kokoda Trail and the United States' naval victory in the Coral Sea. An imaginary "Brisbane Line" was drawn to represent Australia's second line of defence against the approaching hordes.

The trouble is, someone forgot to tell the Japanese. The only real invasion plan appears to have existed in the minds of prime minister John Curtin and the Australian public.

Japan never seriously intended to invade Australia, a fact known to the Australian Government by mid-1942 and confirmed by intelligence reports

I don't doubt that is true. But the Australian left hates the Australian Right also. And the American left that I could argue is too powerful hates the American and Australian right.

Well if as you say America gains nothing from membership in the ICC why did you bring this nonsense up in the first place? That wasn't very smart of you was it?

My country is dead...passed from the scene. I once grieved for an America now long gone. She now only lives in memory.

I brought it up because some idiot earlier claimed that the USA is responsible because it tries it's own soldiers for war crimes! A bit like setting up a tribunal of pigs to discuss if someone is covered in (*)(*)(*)(*).

But if Americans are happy that they're tax dollars are used to torture foreigners - so be it. Just keep your scum out of our country please.

It also makes sense for the Japanese to take Australia and New Zealand and all the Pacific islands. It would be garding their southern border. With that area under their control they could consintrate their forses on a shorter border. And Australia and New Zealand were the only 2 powers down there and not as populated as Japan. It just makes sense. Besides Japan had already atacked English and French colonial areas, the whole Siam area. And also had taken Papul New Guine as a staging area for Australian and New Zealand conquest. Japan said it wonted "asia for the Asians" but there were no Asians in Papul New Guine.
