Repeating a basic-but-obvious slogan, Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) took to the House floor in a short speech with a simple premise: Americans are hurting because of the two-fold attack on the price of oil – both Biden’s inflation and his surrender of national energy independence – and Boebert wants none of it.

Under Joe Biden, the average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline is nearing $5.00 nationwide. Over a month ago, the New York Times was even forced to admitthat in a year-over-year comparison (i.e. Trump versus Biden), gas had risen over 40%. It has only gotten worse since then.

Here is Boebert calling for a return to sanity and lower prices:

“We should restart construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline, overturn Biden’s energy leasing moratorium, and expedite permits for pipelines and natural gas exports. We need the American Energy Independence From Russia Act and stop playing Biden’s energy-anywhere-from-America game.

Mr. Speaker, America should not only have affordable energy for our own use, but we should be exporting it abroad. We can literally export strength and freedom to our allies. In short, the solution is very simple. Drill, baby, drill.”…

    R
ep. Boebert is exactly right. Her speech is a needed reminder of where we were and can get back to. Biden’s plans for getting fossil fuel energy from anywhere but America is boneheaded stupid.

Representative Boebert made news with her speech and its content. The rest of the article beyond her words were authors opinion and those are exactly right as well.

So you don't want oil corps to make a profit. Got it.

Let's look at this rationally: The Ukraine crisis has shown the developed world the follies of putting all their energy eggs into the fossil fuels basket. The rational analysis would be to diversify the energy supply and start getting independent of fossil fuels. In contrast, the Trump party response is: Drill baby drill. It's expected, but the catering of the likes of Boebert to to the most backward elements of the US population is going to do great harm to the future of this nation. This would be a time to look forward and change our energy-producing and consuming ways. Instead, these people want to go 50 years into the past.

I think Lauren Boebert was having flashbacks when her then boyfriend flashed her and two other girls and that is exactly what she was thinking back then.

I’d rather that their profit came from economy of scale of mass production rather than from an artificial scarcity

We were moving an a rational and economically viable manner toward alternatives such as solar and wind among others. The USA has the access to at least a couple centuries of self and North America energy independence and the technology to make their use cleaner. Making a forced change prematurely is what is economically stupid.

Most vehicles are fueled by oil. Tanks, etc are fueled by oil. Saudi Arabia's entire political existence is based off oil. Oil has been the bloodline of Human Civilization over the past 120 years. I'm all for a diversified energy supply, but oil is absolutely a part of that, and putting us a step behind(like Germany) is not advancing the cause around the world, or more importantly: our cause.

Oil is NON-RENEWABLE. It is also THE MAIN REASON for global conflict. To bank the future of mankind on such a resource, especially in a time when its energy return on energy invested is the same or les than renewables, is futile. It will only lead to decline. It is as stupid as investing 100% of your portfolio in high-risk stocks. Yes, bonds have lower return, but they are essential for risk management. Why is risk management not the PRIMARY driver of national energy policy? It should be, but the Trumpers make sure it isn't, so that we keep being highly exposed to shocks in the oil market in the future.

Biden is shutting down our petroleum production to save the planet. Then he's begging foreign countries to make up the difference.
Only Biden believes he can cut 12 inches off the foot of a blanket and sew it on the head of the blanket and make the blanket 12 inches longer.

Biden is doing no such thing, although I realize that Fox News is claiming 24/7 that he does.

The big drop in oil production happened due to covid in 2020. Now, oil companies are very hesitant to restart production because they can't afford oil at prices per barrel the way they were in 2020.

"“DRILL, BABY, DRILL”: Rep. Lauren Boebert Makes Fiery House Speech Calling Out Joe Biden"

she needs to direct that to the oil companies, unless she wants the government to force them to do it?

"Gas prices are high. Oil CEOs reveal why they're not drilling more'

    https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/24/energy/gas-prices-oil-production-wall-street/index.html

"Yet oil executives and investors don't want to add so much supply that it causes another glut that crashes prices. And shareholders want companies to return excess profits in the form of dividends and buybacks, not reinvest them in increasing production."

US oil wants higher prices, they do not want to produce more

how about the US government revokes all federal permits on federal land, drill for the oil themselves and all profits go towards the debt

we get cheaper oil, the debt gets smaller, win\win

However that is where we are at the moment and it is not just about the USA this is world wide and world wide economies are moving away from fossil fuels. One of the technologies that can be used in the near future is geothermal and America is more fortunate than Australia as we are sitting on a continent that does not have even one volcano

The other energy news is that Aus is about to open two new Vanadium mines. Vanadium redox “batteries” can be made to industrial scale, won’t blow up or leak noxious gases and will hold grid scale amounts of energy

I disagree; had Biden not attacked fossil fuel right out of the gate, but rather developed a rational, logical and achievable plan to transition from fossil fuel to alternative energy sources we'd be in a far better situation.

During 2020, when we had a three month shutdown, demand dropped extemely, which meant, prices of oil dropped significantly due to a lack of demand. That lack of Demand was the pandemic called Covid.

Without a doubt that is true. We need an all of the above energy policy until the futuristic stuff is more economically viable. Raising the price of oil by creating artificial scarcity does nothing at all to make the future happen faster. It just gives us economic misery now.

Once again the lefties here acting like the planet is saved if only the US gets its environmental act together.

we are 13% of carbon emissions. What’s your plan for world Carbon emitter #1 China and the rest of the 150+ countries that all share the same climate? Oh that’s right, you don’t have one. One that works anyway. The actual plan is just to screw the US economy over and let China dominate the world while the climate just keeps on warming. Great ****ing plan.
