It's mostly the peoples own fault I saw the water and why did these idiots demand a refund and not go on the boat - seriously common sense should have caused normal people to not take the risk. Morons.

I guess my subtle 2nd amendment sarcasm was too subtle. :)

So you want the government to regulate the Duck Industry more? But but but Trump said he is doing away with business destroying regulations.

Really, you never heard people say that the weathermen do not know what the weather will that they just make it up. If you think about it you will realize that people consider the weather reporting as part of the media so yes there are those who call it "Fake". Oh yesI I was being sarcastic just a little but you know that I am correct.

Actually, this duck "boat" thing didn't start until the 1990's.

    I have never understood it.

Ducks are not especially seaworthy in any except the smallest chop or flat calm.

They were designed to move troops from transport to shore quickly.

Seaworthiness and operating costs were not significant factors in their creation.

I would imagine their mechanical reliability is dubious and operating costs are staggeringly high. They are heavy, high, and their technology is seventy years old.

And, like pontoon boats, they are not the place you want to be in any even halfway serious weather.

I don't care about banning them. But I would never get on one. Just as I would never get on a pontoon boat in any but the calmest weather.

That's false. Wisconsin Dells, Wisc - big playground for Chicago, had "Ride the Ducks" starting back in the late 1960s.

There are likely millions of pontoon boats. The great danger of those is someone falling off the front. If so, there is no avoiding getting chopped up by the propeller.

What happened was not due to flaws in the "Duck" design. It was outright stupidity by the operator in going out in bad weather. They are not suited for anything but calm water. Also, the military never put covers over them, which turns it into a death trap if it sinks.

Compare this with othet tourist attractions even ones inherently dangerous, not something dissimilar. And point being, this isnt supposed something daring, nor should they be prone to such types of accidents nor should an accident occur the passengers should not be trapped beaneath a capped sized roof.

Now compared to automobiles, cars are far safer when an accident occurs. 11 people should not die when something goes wrong.

Yeah this was beyond sad. I saw Tia giving an interview with tears streaming down her face who had not only lost 9 family members, but three were her children, youngest was one year old. It was heart wrenching. That company needs to be sued right out of business. Unfathomable what she must be going through..even though still alive, for all intents and purposes she might as well be dead...who could live with that?

The company told them life jackets weren't needed. Not only that but this was not the first accident involving those boats.

Yeah, I mean, we know the boat violated inspection terms. We all knew that from day one. The question is was the violation due to negligent operation or happenstance. Based on the timeline posted by the NTSB I'd say it was negligence because the boat entered the water at 6:55p which is more than 20 minutes after the severe thunderstorm warning was issued and just a couple of minutes prior to the time of expected onset of severe winds.

Yeah life preservers for sure but having that canopy over them is bad too because it would make getting out almost impossible given all would be frantically trying to find the exit.

The windows in this model look bigger like they could be used as exits but the model used in Branson not so much. They seemed more like death traps in cases of inclement weather.

1993. Towboat Mauvilla proceeds with a loaded tow in fog, knocks a RR bridge span out of alignment. Amtrak's Sunset Limited takes a plunge into Big Bayou Canot near Mobile. 47 perish in the fire and the darkness and the muddy water.
