I have a gun in my bedroom but not beside my bed. If someone were breaking in, I likely wouldn't even think about getting it. I would go for the baseball bat.

No guns; just a pile of quartz rocks near my bed to throw if need be.

I do not need a weapon near my bed, my bed sheets are enough to initimidate any bad guy.

Yes. And especially in our ranch house...which is way away from anybody and way out in the country. One would be at the mercy of anybody who decided to knock your door down in such a situation. Thus the protection of a gun at least gives one a chance.

Has no correlation to politics at all. It's about protection from the crazies and druggies out there.

could not vote as no choice of "Other", I lean left, don't own a gun, but believe everyone without exception deserves the right to protect their homes and families as it's a constitutional right we all have, it's not a privileged like driving a car - when everyone has Guns, crooks do not know who does and does not have guns

and some of those crooks are also cops, imagine the abuses of the badge if they knew no one had a gun

Lean left but have no gun. I'd like one, I just haven't put aside the $500 bucks for the one down at the hardware store that I want. So I didn't vote either, but maybe the OP shouldn't be so presumptuous with the options hmmm

You can spend far less on a good enough gun.Cut the barrel off to just legal length and you have a great home defense weapon for $150.00.

No firearms, just my 65# Fred Bear Grizzly and a couple quivers of arrows. I don't like disturbing the neighbors plus there isn't that click-click sound of releasing the safety and chambering a round. And the spillage is a little more contained.

Fear of an intruder is about 3,896th on my list of concerns. Fear of being shot by an intruder is even lower on my list of concerns. I am guessing that I would have my own little militia coming to my rescue within minutes of the alarm going off. The other people on my road are kind of nosey and there is a retired sheriff's deputy who carries 150 yards from my front door.

I do not feel the need of turning my bedroom into an arsenal. (For that matter, I have no phone, radio, television, or alarm clock there, either.)

However, I believe that insecure people, especially the elderly and infirm, should exercise that right if it is the only way they can quell their nerves and sleep soundly.

Some neighbourhoods are more dangerous than others.

I'm a leftist, and I don't have guns I have no use for them.

If you're a burglar looking for an easy mark I should warn you: You come over here and you'll take a tumble after my trained attack kittens throw themselves at your feet... Have a nice trip!

I've lived in large cities all my life and as such I've never had cause to own a gun. I shot one once when I went camping and I thought it was pretty fun although I preferred firing the crossbow. Those things are neat!

I suppose if I owned one I'd keep it in my garage next to my fishing gear. Haven't really given it much thought.

I lean right and don't keep a loaded gun by my bed. I've got a gun and ammo in my room, as well as other more than effective weapons. I mean, I have a 185lb. draw crossbow which would do the trick if my home was getting burglarized by a bear, but it's not exactly what I'd use for home defense. And the gun I have is a 45 colt, it'll get the job done but again, it's not exactly what I'd use for home defense. Nothing's better for home defense than a tactical shotgun, and I plan on getting one, but since I'm in college and need money, I can make do with what I have. I likely won't even need what I have, hopefully I never need anything to begin with.

I keep a .22 Pistol in my bed side lock box. My husband has .45 revolver and a shotgun in the gun case in our bedroom.

I'm left leaning in social policy and right economically.
My husband is extreme left on everything.

A .45 revolver in the bedroom, that's hardcore! Surely that thing would do more damage to your home than any intruder :p

Only if he misses the intruder.

Gun control is the ability to hit the target every time

We live in the country and do keep guns near but when we lived in the city we didn't so it may also be a matter of location as well as political ideology.

    Poll option missing
I swing left but I don't hate guns and I don't own one.

I sleep soundly without a gun...I only know three people who own guns and security isnt a concern for any of them...one is an ex hunter, one shoots gophers on his ranch and another hunts deer...I did own a rifle and a shotgun but when I stopped hunting and started a family I destroyed them both with a sledgehammer....my kids are grown now so I've been considering buying a historical/collection piece for target practice and maybe a shotgun, but neiher because I feel the need for security...

    Sorry if that is confusing.

Whilst clips often actually mean stripper clips for top loading such things as SKS's, the term also is used, somewhat incorrectly, for magazines.
