Lois Waisbrooker (1826 -- 1909) was the first Feminist author to promote the idea of massive genocide of men long before Valerie Solanans. According to Wikipedia, Adeline Eliza Nichols was born into a poor family, worked as a servant, and had little formal education. She did experience discrimination -- she was forced to marry at 17. Later, she became famous for her literary talent. By 1863, she adopted the name Lois Waisbrooker. She founded and edited three periodicals. Prior to Internet, that was a very considerable achievement.

In 1893, Lois Waisbrooker wrote and published a novel called "A Sex Revolution" in which she advocated extermination of 90% of men. She did not get into any trouble for her genocidal aspirations. Lois Waisbrooker did get into some trouble for writing on the subject of sex. According to Wikipedia, "she was prosecuted under the Comstock Act that prohibited the sending of obscene materials through the U.S. mail". In early 20th century, she was again tried for distribution of material dealing with sex. She was sentenced to a fine of $100 -- which is about $15,000 in modern terms.

Every Age has odd people who hold genocidal ideas. Every large group of people has strange and radical individuals. Sky is blue. An important measure of Society is how it reacts to people who transgress Social Norms. This is the measure by which we can compare Patriarchal American Society of 1893 to the Woke American Society of 2020.

USA 1893 was a very Patriarchal society. Comparing that society to 1950s would be an understatement! Lois Waisbrooker wrote and published a novel in which she advocated extermination of 90% of the ruling class -- men. She was not cancelled. She did not become unemployable. No one pressured the publishers to deplatform her.

The Patriarchal Society was unjust and discriminatory toward women in many ways. It is right that discriminatory Laws have been repealed. Nevertheless, that Society was not as tyrannical as the modern one. That Society valued Freedom of Speech. Freedom of Speech was viewed not only in terms of a law, but also as a paramount moral value. Most people agreed with Voltaire who said "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend your right to say it". In Patriarchal Society, Lois Waisbrooker was allowed to advocate extermination of 90% of the ruling class. Some Sexism which existed in Patriarchal Society was Benign Sexism. Women were the first ones saved in any maritime disaster. Only men were drafted. Men worked in worst and most dangerous jobs.

USA 2020 is a Woke Society. Thousands of people are fired, blacklisted, and deplatformed for slightest disagreement with The Left. Even 15 years ago Larry Summers got fired for suggesting that women are naturally less interested in Math. In 2017, James Damore was fired for suggesting that emotional reasoning is more common in women then in men. Now, people are fired, blacklisted, and deplatformed for much less.

In Woke Society, Tyranny is unmitigated by anything. Values like Free Speech and Equality are not seen as Moral Values, but as mere formalities. Even though the First Amendment prohibits government from censoring Free Speech, Leftists have many extrajudicial punishments for tens of thousands of people guilty of Wrongthink. The Dissidents are fired, blacklisted, deplatformed, and lose access to many banks.
