I was on a website not long ago, and I noticed a conversation between two 20ish kids, both of whom are still living with their parents. The subject was respect, and one of them decided that older people don't deserve respect; and then the other one wrote "viva la revolution" meaning war against the old--even of putting people over 69 in front of firing squads (1) because we use up too many resources, supposedly effed up the planet, and our ideas are old and tiring. In another post one person called another person "stupid" and "old" inferring that old is equal to stupid. There is even a call from young people to cap voting at age 65. It seems it is ok to be a swinger, gay, trans, zoo but it is forbidden to be old.

So here is a very ungrateful generation of young people who have more opportunities and convenience than any other generation before them and they have completely forgotten where that high standard of living came from. They conveniently ignore the fact that all of technology for their computers, cell phones, TV's, heated homes, sewage systems, satellites, western medicine, etc. was 'donated' to them by the older generations. We should actually be charging the young user fees for the technology that we gave them, and that they take for granted.

By the way, what in the hell have younger generations given the world. They've tweaked some technology to make it faster and fancier, but its all based on technology from the older generations. In the meantime, we are sorely in need of new vaccines but we get nothing. We need a cure for cancer, but nothing. We need reliable, efficient energy sources but we get nothing. What we did get is Facebook and Twitter. Wow! In fact, if millennials were paid according to what they have given to humanity, they would be living in their parents basements for the rest of their lives; and us old people would be the ones talking about firing squads for the unaccomplished.

Self centered, spoiled, entitled, punks. I guess prosperity does that to a society. Their every need met and they grow bored from all the free time they have so they look inward and demand more.

Oh, c'mon, it was just two stupid kids....not the whole generation.

And get comfort from the fact that, even if they don't realize it, they will be old one day :) It'll come as a shock to them but it will happen ...and their grandkids will be laughing at them for using their old fashioned antiquated smart phone.....they will get no respect ;)

Can't say I blame them for being a bit angry - one day they walk out into the world and the old folk say, "Here's $21 trillion in debt, have fun paying it off ..."

$8.9 trillion is the official Dept. of Treasury number for Obama.
Trump has added another $2.4 trillion in two years.

Budget deficit did not go up dramatically until the bail out in FY2009 after Bush had left office.

Official Dept. of Treasury has Bush increasing the debt 101% - a little over $5.8 trillion. Obama officially increased the debt by 74% - a $8.6 trillion dollar increase. Both are horrendous enough without trying to make up stories.

Do you think the economy was better when Obama stepped into the Oval Office or when Trump stepped into the Oval Office?

So you understand that Obama was already saddled with two wars. a recession, and a multi-billion dollar bail-out signed by Bush. That's good. You admit that Trump was handed a silver spoon in comparison to Obama. That's not opinion - that's historical fact.

So given that Trump has this great economy - why is the debt rising just as fast as when Obama was in office? Could it simply be that Trump is buying a better economy with "fake" money just like Obama did?

Obama increased the national debt by nearly 50% more than Bush using your own numbers.

Because Obama sacrificed national defense as a way to save money. Trump got our national defense back up to where it should be.

OP, this is what happens when you coddle them and don't whoop their asses when they need it. They should call them the 'time out' generation.

Ever see the 1974 movie "Logan's Run"?

I'm pessimistic about humanity in general. About 10 or 15 years ago I saw the results of a poll that shook me. The question asked:

You are on a beach. You see a 9 year old child (boy or girl) who you do not know and your pet (dog, cat, etc) in the water. They are drowning. You can definitely save one of them. You might be able to save the other, but it's probable the other one will drown. Who do you save?

About 80% said they would save their pet and let the child drown. To me, this was chilling. This shows how shallow humanity is. To save their freaking dog and let someone else's child drown is repulsive to me. People suck.

**** the kid, he's a human being, he can take care of himself. Our pets depend on us, they don't even ask, they just do.

****** brat would probably say you molested him and have you sent away for life. If you ever see a kid crying in a mall, call a cop, even approach them yourself and you're likely to be telling your neighbors to watch out for you

Whenever I call a 'support line' for something technical, I start each conversation with "I'm old, so please make this simplistic, and I won't be offended if you talk to me like a 6 year old". I generally get a laugh, but I've bought a lot of patience from them from the start. The reality is that 20 somethings are far more technically adept than my generation (with the exception of those folks who've 'kept up'). Have they cured cancer? Nope, but we didn't either. They've been raised by parents who gave them everything...they will have to learn - the hard way - that they don't always get what they want. And it won't kill them.

But we also have to realize that they work to live, rather than what we did - live to work.

If someone let my child die to save their chihuahua, I’d kill them.
