So neither of them are in positions of drafting or voting on gun laws. In other words they can’t take your guns away.

 

Yes I do believe that. There are very few individuals in the GOP who don’t support the 2nd amendment as a personal individual right.

 

The 2nd amendment right to bear arms.

 

Yet...The point is making sure it stays that way.

 

So you’re all worried about people who can’t actually take your guns away. Ya....that’s rational.

 

So how come most red states don't allow ex felons to purchase weapons? How come the process to buy a machine gun in red states can take months and you have to register with fed? You can't even get a suppressor without it taking 10 months to get. (admittedly that is a safety device, not a weapon). You can't buy mustard gas. You can't buy surface to air missiles. Even the late Justice Scalia admitted restricting rocket launchers needed to be looked at. Trump himself tweeted that you need to take the weapons first and ask questions later (loosely quoting).

You don't support republicans because they support the 2nd. You support republicans because they support the 2nd a bit more then democrats. A small distinction but a distinction nonetheless.

This makes me wonder why you don't vote libertarian. They too do not fully support the 2nd BUT they do tend to have a more 2nd amendment friendly view then even Republicans. I guess the 2nd doesn't necessarily have to be your most important issue but since republicans threw the towel on fiscal responsibility their isn't a while lot else to cling to except guns and pushing unconstitional abortion laws (see the irony?)

Anyhow I am rambling but have a had a beer or 3 so it is what it is.

 

I worry about people who advocate for that action be they an interest group or in government. It is rational to speak out and or act to make sure that those advocates never do get the power to be able to do it. We will not be lulled into complacency.

 

My neighbors 8 yr old is anti-gun. You should probably get to work on making sure he doesn’t get the power to be able to take your guns
