During the on camera White House meeting the other day, someone mentioned when border patrol apprehends someone at the border but can't send them back and then they are "released into the interior of the country." I'm totally confused by this. Here's how I thought it went down: Border Patrol catch someone who has crossed over the border illegally and apprehends them and the alien is now under federal custody. They are processed and then sent back to their country or kept in prison for a while. Either way, they are not released into the general population!
