Alzheimer's Might Not Actually Be a Brain Disease, Expert Reveals : ScienceAlert This just goes to show that medical science can stagnate for many years and go down the wrong path because of fabricated data. We now know that it was data fabrication that led to years of mistreatment as medical science doubled down on the beta-amyloid being the responsible candidate for Alzheimer's disease. Now, we're back to searching for the cause of Alzheimer's. Hopefully, this time, they'll get it right and cure it.
Wrong turns are part of the process. Fabricated data? Please elaborate. How Not to Study a Disease: The Story of Alzheimer’s by Karl Herrup
Several years ago, it was discovered that a 2006 research paper that identified beta-amyloid as the cause of Alzhimer's Disease used data that was fabricated, in other words it was fake data that was made up, and that was a big scandel. It was also the core foundation with which almost 20 years of research into a cure was based on.
Thanks. Here's some more grist for your mill. A “star neuroscientist…may have manipulated data that support a major stroke trial and important Alzheimer’s research.”
