Amazing how SNL never seems to get it wrong, guess it is just too easy

Used to be real funny back with the original cast.
If I wanted political humor I'll turn to CNN...

 

The last funny skit SNL did was ‘The Bubble’........

 

Its funny because we already know how this will go. Feminists and Muslims are not friends in Europe, and only temporarily so in the US now.

 

Had to look that one up. California is the bubble.

 

The interesting thing about the these legit Feminists (our nudey pals) is that they also don't hold with Transwomen - regarding them as just more male 'control' of womanhood. I find myself very much in line with them on such issues.

 

Its certainly more consistent.

 

That one is a classic!

And soooo accurate. We have a 'California' in this country, and it really is just like this. When we travel there we treat it like a visit to a Primitive Society, living cut off from the modern world for decades. We take pics of the most hilarious soy people, laugh at the price of cafe food, and watch (in quiet horror) the stealth racists overplay their hand.

 

And they're targeting the real issues, not fictional pay gaps and f'ing pronouns.

 

That bubble was led by one "man".

I suspect America left the Black Prez run til too late, and picked the wrong Black guy to do it. Had you/they picked a more intelligent, more mature, and less racist individual, and installed him/her when it was actually needed - things might be very different today.

 

They got nuthin’ like that in socialist north korea

 

Dana Carvey's "Bush" was hysterical, Phil Hartman's "Clinton" was really good, and Tina Fey's "Palin" was amazing.

What they all had in common, was that it was all in good fun, and it was apparent that everybody was having fun with it.

I don't remember anybody doing "Obama", because he was the golden calf protected by the politically-correct force field. I'm sure somebody did an Obama, but it had to be played with kid gloves, and so it just wasn't fun or memorable at all.

Then came Trump, and the fun was sucked right out of everything, and replaced with genuine rancor and bitterness, and comedy kryptonite ensued.

 

It all started with Barry. Everyone just knew instinctively that he couldn't wear it. His racism and fragility was palpable. God, what a disaster he was for America

 

Nah. I am old, watched the show back in its glory days, bought the comic book and was even in the audience during the episode with John Anderson in it. And the show is a pale, pale shadow of its former self. And that's the non-political stuff I'm talking about.

 

As far as I can tell, the only big (in terms of number of fans) outfit still doing non-partisan comedy successfully, is Bad Lip Reading.

Bless them for honouring the art, instead of selling out to the propaganda machine!

 

Even Seinfeld tried and couldn't get Obama to come across as anything other than insecure.

 

You'd probably have been better just crash tackling your nearest first generation Nigerian doctor or lawyer, and begging him/her to consider politics. No history of resentment or activism, and almost certainly not an ideologue. Also, far more likely to have had parents who cherish America, since they made such an effort to move there.

Certainly funnier than SNL.

Its where the real comedy is.

 

I watch the YT election compilations again every few months. And still laugh my behind off. Was a unique situation in International politics, at least in my lifetime. I think I laughed til I couldn't breath every day, for weeks.

 

The earth and sky aligned just right in 2016.

I was able to extract additional hilarity at the time, because some of the friends/associates I assumed would appreciate the High Comedy of the situation, were theatrically outraged. Man, that was super dooper funny
