Who knew so many people would be against the President putting more money in the pocket?

I liked Nixon. He didn't take any crap and was decisive. He made inroads with China at a time when western nations couldn't. Watergate is nothing compared to things that have been overlooked He wasn't popular with progs, nor was he a lapdog for Congress. He cussed like a sailor.

I'm sure, there are worse presidents than Trump or Nixon, depending on criteria and comparing each within their own time frame.

Not really. Nixon had a 24% approval rating when he left office, Trump is at 39% today according to RCP averages. Here's a list of highs, lows and averages of the different presidents using the RCP averages. Not just one poll or pollster or polling firm.

    Trump Highest 45% Lowest 35% Average 40%

    Obama Highest 69% Lowest 38% Average 47.9%

    Bush (G.W.) Highest 90% Lowest 25% Average 49.4%

    Clinton Highest 73% Lowest 37% Average 55.1%

    Bush (G.H.W.) Highest 89% Lowest 29% Average 60.9%

    Reagan Highest 68% lowest 35% Average 52.8%

    Carter Highest 75% Lowest 28% Average 45.5%

    Ford Highest 71% Lowest 37% Average 47.2%

    Nixon Highest 67% Lowest 24% Average 49.1%

    Johnson Highest 79% Lowest 35% Average 55.1%

    Kennedy Highest 83% Lowest 56% Average 70.1%

    Eisenhower Highest 79% Lowest 48% Average 65.0%

    Truman Highest 87% Lowest 22% Average 45.4%

Roosevelt Highest 84% Lowest 48% No average available as approval ratings began in 1937 and FDR took office in March of 1933.

Now Trump average of 40% approval is the lowest average of any president going back to FDR. But almost every other president with the exception of FDR, Eisenhower and JFK at one time or another achieved an approval rating of lower than Trump's current 39%. Isn't it interesting that historians look at a president who at one time was at 22% public approval and now ranks him as a near great president. That was Harry S. Truman.

Looks to me (and my untrained eye) that President Trump and President George W. Bush both entered office with roughly the same approval rating, and I remember he wasn't very popular either, but it just seems, Trump is vilified and ridiculed and likened to a child or a mad man or an old crank or a bigot, and George W. Bush... Was just seen as stupid, maybe a little dodgy with oil money between him and the Bin Ladens but... IDK

Bush entered office with a 57% approval rating which skyrocketed to 90% right after 9-11. October 2008 was when Bush had his lowest at 25%. Trump started off at 45%, had his lowest in August at 35% and has since rebounded up to 39%. Obama started out at 69%, had his lowest 38% in August of 2011. Obama's highest approval rating was in January of 2009, the week he took office. Trump's highest is also in the week he first took office.

Trump is not 'vilified and ridiculed and likened to a child, madman, crank or bigot' he is all of those. It isn't just the left that are seeing these things in him, IT IS WORLD WIDE. Everybody sees it but his base.

This is a paradox: "It was the worst of times, it was he best of times". Charles Dickens.

Trump is just the worst. No best. Just worst. No paradox.

I was going to ask the same question.

But I would have asked the question a little differently.

When did you start holding down a full time job and paying your fare share in taxes ?

45% of American adults still don't pay any individual federal income taxes.

I wonder what political ticket they always vote ? That's probably a stupid question to ask.

Yeah, they should all be like FOX. as for making stuff up, they are just taking their lead from Trump, since hes a walking encyclopedia of fake news. Its obvious you mistake the media reporting on his constant stream of the stuff for the media reporting fake news.

    Perfect trumpian logic there.

If Nixon were still living he would be glad that he is no longer at the bottom of the list.

For me it was Nixon. So I do remember him.

A few years after Nixon stepped down he did the Frost interviews.

He made the statement in them "if the President does it then it is right."

That was the most foolhardy thing to say.

Trump says something foolhardy every single day.

    Good to know.

So you are saying Dubya was the worst.

But nobody hated Dubya. They/we all just concluded he was stupid. At least he WAS a good ole' boy.

It was Reagan for me. I remember some of what Nixon did, the hatred of him and his work with China, which was a murdering torturing country with few western allies.
