Reading the news today I found a story that might impact your opinion regarding professional police competence. "Detective Chief Superintendent Jason Tingley said there was "no available footage and they are relying on witness accounts." Asked about speculation if there was never a drone, he said: "Of course, that's a possibility. We are working with human beings saying they have seen something." THE SUN UK, DRONE GROAN Gatwick drone – police sensationally admit there may NEVER have been a drone attack as cops slammed over couple quizzed for 36 hours, Paul Gait, 47, and wife Elaine Kirk, 54, were arrested at their Crawley home on Friday night over the attacks but have now been released without charge, By Holly Christodoulou, 23rd December 2018. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/8050136/gatwick-drone-boss-arrested-soldier-reveals-agony/ " THE SUN UK, DRONE GROAN Gatwick drone – police sensationally admit there may NEVER have been a drone attack as cops slammed over couple quizzed for 36 hours, Paul Gait, 47, and wife Elaine Kirk, 54, were arrested at their Crawley home on Friday night over the attacks but have now been released without charge, By Holly Christodoulou, 23rd December 2018. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/8050136/gatwick-drone-boss-arrested-soldier-reveals-agony/ Where is DCS Helen Mirren now that they really need her?
A few of those gun owners should be in the hallways of every one of your schools until the psychos learn to find other targets.
I suppose so, but people have killed for cell phones, sneakers and probably Snickers. Money is often a good motive for people who would otherwise not be tempted at all.
There may be evidence of that, but given that volunteers are free it is probably better to use them than to craft a police state just to feel "safer".
I do agree. Where was all this self-righteous outrage when the children of gun rights advocates were being threatened? I didn't see you so lathered up then... or even at all.
Have you spoken out against those that made death threats against these survivors of gun violence? I must have missed it
Bull. Most cops are not well-trained enough, nor dedicated enough to maintain the necessary proficiency to be effective in that environment... and I sat that as a former LEO myself. What's interesting is that I believe that in these circumstances, true amateurs are a superior choice to professionals. The word amateur comes from the Latin amo, amare, to love. And people who are serious about firearms proficiency love what they do, and they do it for love, not money. Being an amateur does not mean incompetent. Let’s not forget that an amateur built the Ark; professionals built the Titanic.
I have spoken out against threats of violence in many instances. I think those who openly threaten violence should be picked up and held until they have had a psychiatric evaluation. While serving in the military I overheard an angry Soldier say he should just get a machine gun and shoot everybody. He was immediately confronted and sent for psych eval. Nothing came of it. He was determined to be sane and fit for service. He went on to serve in Iraq and completed 20 years of honorable service. Interesting note, how would I have felt if I had said nothing and he had gone through with the threat?
You mean the Parkland gang such as Hogg and the others? They aren't children, and their lies and irresponsible behavior may not be deserving of death threats, but certainly appropriate condemnation.
Then you may have blind faith in the professional competence of police and surgeons. And that is never warranted.
