Anatomy of Gun Control What really motivates Gun Control Advocates To preface, no statement made can apply to all people and situations as there are always exceptions to most everything. To begin, I was originally brought up in an Anti Gun City and a mostly Anti Gun family that had some hunters and casual target shooters. In spite of constant indoctrination, I made up my own mind about Guns at age 10. One summer, at an Upstate cottage, we were having a nice time on the property that included a swimming pool and stream with fishing..... A Sheriffs car pulled up and informed us of escaped convicts and if we had guns, to Arm ourselves as these men were desperate and armed and would kill. We had no guns. I made up my mind to have firearms as soon as I was old enough. Some people have never had firearms and just do not want any. They fear guns and the responsibilty they entail. At a young age, I travelled to visit relatives in other Countries, they had private land suitable for hunting quail, guniea hens etc... Good eating and I learned to be responsible with guns, fire, and horses etc.... It is sad when people let hysteria decide rather than reason, many Anti Gun folks mean well, however, this often has bad results. Fast foward 11 years and I was serving as Constable in a small Country and I stopped for some snacks at a road side market, as I got off my motorcycle, I heard yelling, an old man in his 60s was raising a machette and hacked a younger man and walked towards some other people. Before I could move in, he hacked a young woman. I approached and yelled at him to drop the weapon, he turned on me yelling. He would not drop his weapon. After, I spoke to the man's family and freinds, he was a nice church going man and a farmer, a Grandfather and well liked in the community. One of his freinds mentioned the old guy had gotten "bored" and that is why he snapped. Nobody could do anything since very few people are Armed in that Country, many believe in Gun control. Many gun control adovcates are well intentioned and only see the harm caused by some individuals. As Ghandi once said; "I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent." Mahatma Gandhi I disagree, many times in order to halt Evil acts, force is necessary.
Imagine being concerned about guns while fishing and swimming at 10 years old? >>I heard yelling, an old man in his 60s was raising a machette and hacked a younger man and walked towards some other people. Before I could move in, he hacked a young woman. I approached and yelled at him to drop the weapon, he turned on me yelling. He would not drop his weapon.<< See, no command presence.
Support on the part of myself pertaining to the issue of firearm-related rights did not come about as a result of personally agreeing with the matter. Rather it was born from being unable to logically support the various proposed restrictions being presented with frequent regularity. Every proposal presenting to firearms that has been presented over the past twenty to thirty years has been examined closely, from the perspective of someone that has an interest in seeing said proposal work in the manner it was presented. And without exception, every single proposal has been plagued with illogical shortcomings that render them useless when they must operate in the real world rather than in a vacuum, and must address countless variables that were not accounted for in the drafting phase. It is not so much firearms being supported on the part of myself, as much as it is them not being opposed, because there is no logical point in bothering to try and oppose them. Official FBI figures indicate that firearms are being bought at an unprecedented rate, the criminal justice system is not utilizing existing restrictions against those they are supposed to be stopping, and the supposed silent majority in the united states that oppose firearms are far too impotent to even speak up about their opposition, opting instead to let the apparent minority have free reign over what is said. Comparatively speaking, trying to oppose the expansion of firearm-related rights and freedoms on the grounds of pure logic, is like trying to exterminate the entire population of cockroaches, across all genus and species variants, by relying exclusively on crushing them underfoot.
Sure, that man was quite insane and high on marijuana and beer. Good luck with your command presence. At age 10, I gave no thought to guns until a grave danger presented itself, escaped convicts wanted for murder. You insist on lies and propaganda and hypocracy and twisting peoples words. Guns are needed to keep people safe.
I understand. I saw a guy jump out of the bed of a pickup truck, run up to a lady who standing on the side of the road, and stab her in the chest, killing her.
It is like your comment, Devoid of reason and intelect. It is actually genderless. You would bring sex into something that affects all people equally. Sad.
Oh no, taking the pi$$ is a national sport/passtime over here. The easiest way to understand if someone from the UK is "Taking the pi$$" is to see if their mouth is moving - If it is, then they are "taking the pi$$"
On this forum it is called "Derailing" and violates the forums terms of service. Socially, it is also quite rude.
Its not rude, its actually a sign of endearment and friendship. If you find it rude, then it just means that you don't get it but thats OK, taking the pi$$ is quite a british thing.
I agree.. There are monsters out there, and they look like ordinary people. John Wayne Gacy looked like an ordinary businessman, construction, till the police discovered he was killing teenaged boys.
