Another aussie dumb enough to have drugs in bali

Heard a 14 year old kid got busted with pot in bali...now the gov is trying to help out and get him home...bugger that! leave the idiot there.

 

You think this is ok for a 14 year old boy with some pot?:

The boy is an idiot, no doubt. However, if all idiots were sent to prison this forum would be considerably smaller.

What i did or didnt do is not the issue...but now that you bring it up no. I first went to Bali at 17 and have been all over Asia in the years since. I have never been STUPID enough to have anything to do with drugs over there.

 

If they were dumb enough to surrender their Firearm Rights then don't be surprized by their stoopidity ...

Its likely the kid was set up by a person working for the cops.
From what I have heard, he was approached by a guy who claimed to be hard up, couldn't feed his family etc, and could he help out by buying the marijuana.

Now, obviously its a set up - I know that, you know that. But this is a 14 yr old boy, who believed he was doing the right thing. Naive? Yes. Criminal? No.

This is the problem with Indonesia. You can pay off the cops to escape an arrest or bribe them to look the other way. You have dealers working the streets and the cops ignore them, but pounce when the dealer tells them that someone bought drugs from them.

Now the government is all over this case, as they should be, because the boy needs to be brought home. But I am miffed that they are ignoring Schapelle, because she needs help, too.

The best advice I can give? Don't go to Indonesia. Its a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing corrupt cesspool and it should be blown to bits.

I've been offered very cheap (and sometimes free) holidays in Bali and other spots in Indonesia, but you'll never catch me going there.

 

What were the parents doing whilst their child was smoking dope? Maybe they were using it as well.

 

Kid was off to have a massage or something. No word on where the parents were. Kid bought the pot and went into a store to have his massage, cops waited for him to come out of the laneway before they jumped on him.

Guess what? The drug dealer wasn't arrested. Nice of the Indonesians, eh?

 

Yep, the kid's an idiot and the parents are irresponsible.

However, locking up a 14 year old kid in an adult prison for a little bit of dope is not the way to go: bring them all back to Australia and cancel their passports.

What about the person who sold drugs to him? What about his punishment? Why are you so eager to punish a poor naive little boy who thought he was doing a good deed?

 

Would any sensible, responsible parent send their 14 year old child for a massage unattended. Pull the other leg!

You don't believe the story even though you haven't made any effort to check out the FACTS in this case. You believe guilt without knowing the full story. That's called jumping to conclusions.

He might have. Innocent until proven guilty, remember?

If guilty, then yes: he must face the punishment there.

However, the punishment there is barbaric and archaic; anything the Australian Government can do in order to get him out of there is fine by me.

Use my taxpayer dollars however you see fit Mr Rudd.

If you take a child anywhere, especially overseas, you are responsible for that child.I have done it on a number of occassions and I took great care of the children every time, whilst at the same time, I accept a 14 yead old child can be hard to handle. But the story put out on this site that he was trying to help someone is very fanciful. In any case,where were his parents when this charitable act occurred, sleeping 'it' off from the previous night? To me, they are more guilty than the child.

 

The parents didn't make this happen. This is not their fault - and the story being reported so far is that the boy was approached by a 'beggar' who asked the boy to buy the marijuana so he could feed his family.

Didn't you watch TT tonight? Drug dealers are rife - apparently they even wait at the airport terminals to catch unsuspecting travelers unawares. Its disgusting.
