Right. Freedom. That is what was said about the Vietnam war and look how that turned out. Iraq as well . The comment about China is recycled Domino Theory. I would agree this is maybe not a partisan issue because neither party is really that interested in the American taxpayer or the American worker. Rather they both support globalism, importing cheap and unskilled labor, importing skilled labor to take tech jobs, and allowing American companies to export accounting workers, etc. for India. If we have 40 Billion to spend, it needs to be spent in America. If you are concerned about freedom, what about the freedom of the American taxpayer that has to pay for all of this. Where is the ROI for the taxpayer? Since you have already used the No True Scotsman fallacy I will say that if you are a real conservative you should not support international welfare. But somehow for Republicans international welfare is good and domestic welfare is bad.

I disagree... depending on how Putin goes out.... Odds are a more benign actor takes over after an historically bad actor...

As bad? Maybe.... Worse? Don't see it...

Their structure and political system will not allow for anything else. We are not exactly talking about an actual democratic system over there fella. If things go completely sour in Ukraine to the point that Putin steps down, I would expect the next guy to pull Russia out of that situation and play nice for the first few years before inevitably going full Stahlin after some time.

We are talking about a completely corrupt and brainwashed Russian populace that are under the belief of the evils of western democracy and freedoms.

Oh look SQUIRREL.....that's the weakest deflection I've seen so far today. How did AOC make Vladdy, Trump's adopted daddy, invade Ukraine again?

AOC almost always takes hard questions and accuses the person who asks them of something. It could be sexism, misogyny, hate and now being rude.

Paid trolls? Did you see the size of the crowd who came to see her? It appears the only way they could get people in there was to pay them.

Trump was not on Putin's side. I do not know what gave you that impression.

I fully understand that, but Gorby and Yeltsin were both pretty benign ... it's not impossible to consider a more western friendly leader after Putin, especially when Russia is likely going to be trying to rejoin Western society after their war, for economic reasons if not political.

I also think your last sentence is obsolete. This isn't the Cold War of the 1960's, Most of the Russian people are fully aware of "western democracy and freedoms", via the Internet, and I suspect the majority would prefer it. They just have no idea how to go about getting it...

What's the argument for the people in the regions of Luhansk and Donetsk, for examples, defending themselves against Ukraine? Oh, OK, you reject the people of Donetsk and Luhansk defending themselves against Ukraine.

I'm pointing out the reason for siding with Ukraine is because Ukraine was invaded is disingenuous.

Why is it disingenuous to support people who are killing Russians? I grew up believing that Russians were the enemy of the United States. I still believe that. And to me the more enemies of the United States are killed its a good thing.

The people of D and L ARE Ukrainians... have been since 1991... If they didn't like it, they probably could have emigrated...

Much like the people of Orlando are Floridians and the people of Austin are Texans

So the answer to your 2nd question is yes...

Our objectives have to have some sort of principled foundation.

We expressed our principles in various places - our constitution, the articles of the UN, etc.

Our objectives have to be international peace and security. To that end, we can't tolerate wars waged for gaining territory - a principle stated in the UN charter.

    1) What territory are the Ukrainians trying to gain?
    2) We'll have a much more peaceful world when all the Russians are gone.

The Russian attempt to conquer Ukraine can not be justified by Donetsk and Luhansk, no matter what some percent of the locals think.

Let's remember that there is NO reason to believe that Russia's military expansion would be stopped by a resolution in Donetsk and Luhansk. Putin has committed to conquering Ukraine, not just grabbing Donetsk and Luhansk. And, his war has made that very clear, as it is spread along borders that have nothing to do with that region.

What happens in Donetsk and Luhansk can be discussed, of course, but the first order issue is that Russia has to be stopped - including there.
