Question: "All good things in moderation".....some people don't believe that the Bible/Qur'an are too extremist, too fanatical - so what are the most extreme examples of, uh, extremism in the Bible/Qur'an?

Me, I'd say that killing virtually ALL humans, and even virtually ALL (innocent) animals in "god's flood", would be a good example of extremism/fanaticism - that's genocide, and genocide is never "moderate", for sure! "A kinder, gentler, genocide".....

    Your opinion?

I cannot answer the question directly. What I will say as an agnostic who is 99% atheist is that there are truly beautiful and timeless truths in the holy books, but that does not mean the pen of God wrote it down. Because those gems of wisdom are tucked between dated, absurd, oppressive, impractical and violent teachings, statutes and rules. There is also the mythology in it that has been thoroughly disproved by science that shows that holy books are not infallible and absolute truths.

Conclusion: These books are to be read and preserved as history, but not to be worshiped.

Unrelated question: Sure it is fascinating history but how does instructions on how to build a Tabernacle help with one's spirituality?

I think your interpretation is probably too extreme, the actual Bible, not really.

The fact that you only see the building of a tabernacle shows you aren't a christian.

    And who worships the Bible?

    Nobody I know.

I'm not particularly informed about the Koran, but it's important to remember that 'the Bible' consists of a number of books, written at different times and saying different things. It would make more sense to concentrate of the New Testament, minus Revelations, an anti-colonialist work for which we lack the code.

Clarification: The Bible is to be preserved as a book of history and mythology, but not revered and respected as the ultimate truth.

How about, rather from The Holy Bible or the Qur'an, from man? Extremism... You MUST NOT be JUDGEMENTAL... YOU MUST NOT ADHERE TO ANY POLICY YOU DO NOT WANT. YOU MUST NOT BE A REPUBLICAN. IF YOU DO BECOME A REPUBLICAN, YOU MUST STAY YOUR DISTANCE AND NOT SAY A WORD UNLESS ASKED OR SPOKEN TO. YOU MUST NOT DEFEND ANY CAUSE THAT IS GOING TO UPSET ANY PERSON. YOU ARE NOT TO THINK THAT THERE ARE OTHERS BETTER THAN YOURSELF... .. The list can go on and on. YOU MUST NOT BE A DONALD TRUMP SUPPORTER.

But hey, you do realize that he ALREADY has the job, right? It isn't like all the anti Trump talk is going to keep him OUT of office. He's ALREADY in.

All the 'wishing him away' isn't going to do a single thing except continue making you believe in some self twisted lie.

The only reason why it might appear to be working is because your own 'twisting, twisting, twisting, twisting of the knot' in your brain and in your 'will' is making you see strange visions and hearing strange things.

I mean, do you really believe that extra sensory perception, or ESP, is better than actual 'spyware'?
