    You act like the British military is its own entity and makes decisions on its own. It doesn't.

    Just like our military is governed by congress, the British military is governed by parliament.

    pretty much...I think you have to take politics out of the equation when discussing squaddies... the main issue is where is the beer, when can I get at it and how much are you charging...everything else is just farting in the wind.
    This issue is designed to fit into a narrative and has fukc all to do with anything else than being politically correct within some titwank's buggered up idea of what political correctness is supposed to look like. If people think that its taken seriously within the military then they are just total mongers.

    The fact it was the military - specifically the army - who felt the need for the warning indicated, to me at least, their concern was apolitical.

    Good point. A few people can do significant damage. So I was wrong to some extent. However, a few isolated acts of terrorism does not necessarily make a major movement.

    The Nazi's had plenty of "evidence" of the act of their "extremists" as well.

    It was enough to start two wars, waste trillions of dollars and leave thousands dead over more than a decade, not to mention signing away most of the Bill of Rights to the Patriot Act. That was pretty f*cking major...

    Wars started by those that made "lists" to identify their enemy. A bill that was passed to make it easier to identify and squash those that the Government felt were the "enemy".

    I'm not saying the Governments actions or response to "subversives" was wrong or right. I am just pointing out the danger of making "lists" to identity those that many believe are a danger. The problem with "lists" is that some people may qualify for one or two items on the "list", but may not be "the droids we are looking for". However, that does not stop some will intended, but totally ignorant fools, from acting on those "lists" to falsely label others.

    The origin of the term is credited to scholar-writer Malise Ruthven, who doesn't appear to be anything remotely resembling a right-wing extremist, and the writer and polemicist who popularized the term, Christopher Hitchens, was a Trotskyist. :lol:
