I had just a tiny inkling of hope that the Denver Broncos would come out of this 'BLM-stupor' in 2018, and then I came across this:

Broncos' Demaryius Thomas Explains Why He Stayed in Tunnel for National Anthem
    dated August 15, 2018: https://bleacherreport.com/articles...s-why-he-stayed-in-tunnel-for-national-anthem

Fine, 'Demaryius'... fine, Brandon. You guys stay in that f*cking "Tunnel"! If they're too ashamed of this country to stand for our National Anthem, then I'm too nauseated to want to see YOU or anybody else on the Broncos team on MY television set....

I don't watch the NFL. because I dislike the entire organization and the way it's operated and coddled by a corrupt government of fat cats. Their really needs to be an alternative league that just plays the game.
I tried to just put "no"..... I really did.

A few trouble makers destroyed football.

Yep, football was "destroyed" by a few troublemakers. Not the grievous mishandling of multiple off-the-field issues, too many penalties for poor reasons, obvious team bias or any of that.

And yet he mentioned nothing about the country for someone you claim is "ashamed" of it.

Oh, so he's a "Marcel Marceau"...? Whatever. The fact remains that these jerkoff's decided to hide in the 'tunnel' rather than honor the National Anthem. That 'speaks' for itself....

BLM/ANTIFA Black Guerrilla-theater producers know exactly what they're doing, and that's why they have chosen NFL Football as their performance venue. There's nothing accidental about it. These militant opportunists can demonstrate their 'outrage' and unhappiness with the same America that has made them wealthy and pampered beyond belief -- without MY watching it or supporting it in ANY way.

No it doesn't. For one thing, it's possible to honor the anthem with or without being present. There's no one way to do it.

Yeah, you're bullshit factory is working on overtime here. It seems as though any black person who calls out America's ills is militant and this country didn't make them wealthy, they did. Folks like you need to check your privilege at the door when you make the rather terrible claim that they were "allowed" to be wealthy, seeing as how in other threads many of you praise this country as being great because "anyone can be wealthy if they work at it."

Well, at least my "bullshit factory" knows the difference between "you're" and "your"... but some people are proud of their ignorance. :roflol:

Have it your way, but when our American society's custom is that everyone in a stadium, including the revered athletes, stands in honor of the National Anthem. They don't go hide in a corner or in a 'tunnel'. :hiding:

The only 'privilege' I have had in life is that of having being a natural-born United States citizen who had the ability, freedom, and determination to make a success of life. For that very genuine privilege I am grateful, and I'll be happy to stand for the National Anthem of my country, whether some bunch of pampered, rich, radical-creeps hiding in a 'tunnel' refuse to do so or not....

Maybe it’s time you start questioning your customs if Americans, particularly white folks, are this uptight over an anthem that they’ll willfully ignore everything else, despite also claiming to want the best for all Americans any other time.

Good for you Captain America. Unfortunately you still need to check your privilege if you honestly think athletes are “allowed” to be wealthy while you and others have determination to work for something.

Oh, and on another note, if you really think standing for the anthem makes you special, noble or a patriot and the athletes not doing it are hateful creeps, I’d like to inform you that standing for the anthem doesn’t make you patriotic anymore than standing in an aquarium makes you a fish. Conversely, choosing not to stand and protest is just as American as anything else.

Fine. By all means, let the athletes protest. Let them slink away and hide in 'tunnels'. Let them raise hell about how horrible they think everything in America is. Let them make real spectacles out of themselves -- on their own time, on their own property, in the privacy of their own lives.

And if the team OWNERS, and the NFL itself does nothing to eliminate this "Guerrilla Theater" of nonsensical, America-hating propaganda, then I'm done with them, too! The NFL, the owners, and the athletes don't need MY money, and I don't need THEIR bullshit. We understand each other....

Absolutely. The right supported rapists, animal abusers, drug users, etc. The moment someone politely kneels, the NFL is way out of line. LMAO.

Again, you show your privilege. Telling them to protest on their own time away from the public is NOT how protests work. They’re not meant for your comfort or your convenience or your feelings. No protest was ever done by making sure not to hurt someone’s feelings.

But it was fine when they were only wife beaters, drug users, animal abusers, rapists? That was all cool? Now, someone politely kneels during the anthem, and that's WAY out of line. Lulz.

I am not obliged to sacrifice either my "convenience" or my "comfort" to accommodate the groundless bitching by some bunch of America-hating athletes. They are welcome to protest, and I am welcome to pay no attention to their nonsense. Their 'privilege' is not (NOT) one which entitles them to have any of my personal 'mind-share' at all!

Aside from that -- since you're obviously a sports enthusiast like I am -- catch a few NHL hockey games this season. You'll rediscover what it is to watch a REAL sport that demands REAL athletic ability, endurance, and intelligence. Not only that but the game isn't stopped over and over and over for heavy overdoses of commercials, promo's, and penalties that take forever to be reviewed and assessed.

Absolutely! OTOH, I would never miss out on a dream concert because I don't like the opening act. Just go pee during the anthem and you won't have to see it. ;)

If you think they’re America haters then you really aren’t paying attention.

Weird. You should find a job that pays money. Either way, not many people work for free. How do you propose people be paid for their work if they give it away for free? Oh, wait, you want to pay them with bags of peanuts. Still not free, though; peanuts cost real money.

Relax, man. I take issue with the sheer volume of ads, especially on TV, and also with how annoying they tend to be. I see advertising done better, like simple little sponsor spots done in YouTube shows and podcasts, and I can't help but think that this is how advertising really ought to be done more broadly. As it is, I purposely block and shut out ads in all forms. The only ones I can't really block are those little sponsor spots, but again, they're just not that bad by comparison.

It would be great if commercial TV were more like public broadcasting and today's YouTube and podcasting content in terms of how they handle ad spots. We don't need several minutes of straight ads over breaks interrupting the programming every 5 minutes. It's just too much.

Here's my take (and just FYI, I don't care if they kneel or not during the anthem. I gave up my "outrage" over it):

If they truly wanted to protest, then they would sacrifice playing the sport until their wants and needs were met.

This kneeling thing is the bare minimum. Sure they are making it known that they are against something, but they are still out there playing the game and getting paid premium bucks while the people they are protesting for don't make ****.

If this were a real protest, they'd sit out the games.

Kap did sacrifice playing the sport and now he’s been recognized even more off the field than on, and put his money where his mouth is when asked what he’s done for the world. He’s winning off the field as far as I’m concerned.

Getting those demands met will take a lot more than kneeling, protesting and any calls to action here. That’s a monumental task. As for the players, I’m sure they love the game too much to just give it up. Why give up your passion? Why stop doing the thing that makes you happy?

Kap didn't choose to sit out the game. He's actively trying to get back. If other's joined him in not playing, that would show they were serious about their message. Instead they're saying "meh, I'll sit for the anthem to make them think I'm serious, but can still collect my game check".
