Russia has it new bomb of deterance

    http://www.popularmechanics.com/military/weapons/a23547/russias-new-icbm-could-wipe-out-texas/

So this bomb is large enough to wipe out an area the size of Texas. Mmm...even "the wall" would buckle.

And increasingly tjose countries thst have enjoyed distance from nuke owners, say NZ, Australia and southern America are at risk from bombs carried and launched ny submarines or ships.

No one is safe. The bombs or the fallout, the contaminated foods and the list goes on.

So lets look at why such bombs are being made. Russia, like China are surrounded by USA and NATO. Just why there us a build up on Russia's west borders is anyones guess. Russia has little hope of matching USA's military now or in the future.

Maybe the USA is backing them into a corner. However, if Russia had dumped its historic bad attitude, selected its allies more wisely and treated its neighbours better it could have worked side by side with the free world.

    What do you think?

Not a new bomb. A new missile, capable of carrying more warheads. Designed to foil any anti-missile systems by overloading them.

Nothing new, really. It maintains the status quo that existed before any anti-missile systems existed.

It occurs to me that in the olden days (!) it used to be the USSR that had 'the bad attitude' and the US who were the good guys; now it would seem that it's the other way around.

I think I won't miss Texas. Plus it won't matter about the wall if the boarder is buried under radio active contamination. I say "bring it on" save us the cost of building a wall and remind the world what nuclear war looks like.

Am I right to assume that whoever controls space might rule the world?

Meaning Reagans Star Wars dream to be revitalised?

    Guns in space.

Popular Mechanics knows jack **** about Russia's weapons. The veracity of the propaganda the Pentagon feeds them is dubious at best.

If the Pentagon really knows anything about Russia's military secrets they are not going to reveal that to popular Mechanics because that would tip the Russians off. It's most likely that the Popular Mechanics reports are just bullshit.

I think we (the USA) should endeavor always to be friends with Putin in Russia.

Not just because of this bomb.

But because Russia has always been a most formidable foe in the entire history of the world since Catherine The Great.

What a joke your post is. There is nothing secret about MIRV's. That Russia has improved on this technology (increasing the payload such that the number of MIRV's is 16) is neither surprising, nor a secret and the info did not come from the Pentagon ... it comes from Russia.

It is not a secret that Russians have rocket technology. In fact, we currently have to rely on the Russian technology if we want to get to the Space Station.

It is also true that increasing the number of MIRV's (and adding decoys - another "secret" that is not a secret) makes it more difficult to defend against this threat.

Further - it is no secret that 16 one megaton (or more) nukes would turn Texas into a red "no go zone" on the map due to radioactive contamination.

    Ignorance is not your friend.
