Funny, I considered the 10% unemployment rate, the 50% drop in the DOW, a nearly collapsed banking system, a collapsed housing market, two unfunded wars, the use of waterboarding and other forms of torture, that all occurred before or just after Obama took office, were a far greater nightmare.

It is as if people have memory spans of about six months these days. Obama handed Trump a country in far far better shape than he found it. You should be kissing the ground and thanking Obama for guiding us through the worst crisis since the depression.

We could be in year 8 of a 25 year global depression [esp if the Tea Party got their way], and we might not have 2 of 3 US auto makers any more, were it not for Obama.

If McCain and other Republicans had gotten their way, we would be bogged down in three or four wars now. Obama has wiped out 2/3 of ISIS with no boots on the ground, or even any pilots put in jeopardy.

And remember that Obama got Bin Laden, not Bush.

Whether a dream was a nightmare or not all depends upon the dreamer.

No, it depends on facts. And I've NEVER met an Obama hater who could get the facts straight.

When you confront them with facts and evidence, they just change the subject or claim it is media bias. It is downright pathological.

As an independent I find this to be a human failing not limited to the left or the right.

I suspect that in a year from now, Obama's approval ratings will be around 90% entirely due to the actions of Trump. In many ways, Trump is the best thing to happen to Obama's legacy. The moment Trump announced he was running for the presidency in 2015, Obama saw his approval rating's increase. Coincidence? Nope.

The approval ratings will speak on that people realize the idiocy that was behind the Trump movement, land the fantasies they put energy into believing his promises. That's what Obama's Approval rating will show.

Conservatives only claim Bush sucks now because he is out of office. They defended him relentlessly for 8 years despite his approval ratings being in the gutter. Then suddenly most stopped defending him, and many claim they didn't even vote for him.

With Trump though, I've noticed that at least half of his biggest supporters on this forum have ALREADY abandoned him in a sense. Sure, they'll defend his stupidity in every thread about him, but then at the end of their defense...they'll claim "But I didn't vote for him!". It's a smart way to relieve themselves of responsibility for a guy they deep down inside know is a piece of garbage.

Yeah, keep telling yourself that. At least we didn't have coconuts dropped on our heads, and understood the importance of both human rights and globalism.

I'm sure people have covered everything you said, but allow me....

Nothing? There are lots of people who have health insurance as a result of the ACA, and some of those folks would be dead today if it wasn't for the ACA. The living human beings are enough of a "show". This is your only point that I concede was a poor job by Obama, but I don't automatically assume that the accumulation of debt is a horrible and terrible thing, and every time I've looked at what he chose to spend money on, I have a hard time thinking that it was spent poorly.

Yeah? And what is left to be discovered in space? There are no habitable planets within reach of us, and the costs we'd incur by trying to mine resources from asteroids or something crazy like that would far outweigh the benefit. We already DID put a man in space, so why do we need to continue to do so? Show me a real, tangible benefit of a space program right now. Otherwise, since you clearly care so much about the national debt, why are you so keen on spending hundreds of billions on what is, at this point, basically just a vanity project?

And what, exactly, would be the point of having a massive military right now? To defeat ISIS? I hope you aren't dumb enough to believe that the reason we are struggling to defeat ISIS is from a lack of military strength. We have the TECHNOLOGICAL PROWESS to absolutely annihilate anyone who wants to mess with us, and that's not even counting the thousands of nuclear missiles we have at our disposal already! And did you forget that we have military alliances with dozens of countries? Investing in the military right now is about as useful as taking hundreds of billions of dollars and lighting it all on fire. I can't believe you'd complain about the deficit AND promote the idea of totally pointless military spending in the same post.

Wow, really? You really just throw this number out there and no red flags go off in your head saying things like "huh, well there's a chance that some of those folks could be students, stay-at-home moms, and retired people...", which is exactly why that number is so high. Read this. 93% of those people ARE NOT LOOKING FOR A JOB, because they're either in school, or taking care of kids at home while their spouse provides financial support, or they're retired and better not have to work anymore.

Vague statement, and considering the misleading and factual inaccuracy of what you said before, I find no reason to believe you on this one. We absolutely are a divided nation, and after reading what you wrote, I tend to think it's because the really vocal and opinionated folks have stopped bothering to do any research or think critically about anything they say.

By you, sure. By millions and millions and millions of Americans, he already is.

    No we weren't.

TARP was signed into law on October 3rd, 2008 by President G.W. Bush, not by Obama.

Obama's Cash for Clunkers and forcing Chrysler to to be bought by the Italians didn't do jack for the phony Obama economy that never saw a 3% GDP in any quarter for eight years.

The only people that will miss Obama are the lazy drones in society that democrats have been buying off with taxpayer money for decades. They are afraid they may have to get a job and support themselves.
