Atheism believes in the total lack of any supernatural moral authority.

It believes that Darwanism rules life, and that survival of the fittest is the natural order.

That means that the strong survive, the weak are defeated.

Weakness breeds death, strength is victory over the natural order.

Such attitudes led to the Holocaust and the Soviet massacres and the Maoist murders

Its a fact that the worst human attrocities all took place in the 20th century and were all inspired and motivated by a rejection of a spiritual moral code, and instead by Darwanist belief in triumph of the strong over the weak.

    So, does Atheism breed evil?

Yes. It also inspired communism and the French revolution.

There is NO moral code in Atheism.

meanwhile, many bad and evil things have been done in the name of Islam, Christianity and Judaism but at least there IS a moral code in these faiths for Jews, Muslims and Christians to fall back on if their hearts are driven to be kind and caring.

    Atheists? have nothing.

First of all it is called evolution and your understanding of it is sorely lacking (as can be expected of someone who believes in Creationism). Survival of the fittest is not about being the strongest, it means being fit for your environment. A slime-mold is very fit for its environment, but it is hardly strong. Rats and cockroaches are prey for many different animals, but they will most likely outlast us.

Yes, dictators and maniacs have twisted evolution to suit their politics, but that is no different what the religious right has done to Christianity.

Atheism = Secular Humanism. A belief that self is the center of all things. Morality basis- situational ethics and moral relativity.

    I dont believe in Creationism.

I believe in the Theory of Evolution, but Im not too arrogant than to fully embrace its moral consequences.

What moral consequences? Evolution is not about morality, it is about how we got from point A to point B. If some idiots misinterprete evolution for their own ideology, it is on them, not on evolution.

Asinine conflation of two utterly unrelated issues!

The OP fallaciously assumes that atheists lack morality just because there is no evidence for the existence of an imaginary "creator"

If the OP's erroneous premise was accurate then jails and prisons would be packed with atheists.

The FACTS are that prisons contain more religious adherents than atheists.

If we were to follow the illogic of the OP then all of the accusations above can be leveled at theists instead.

Furthermore the OP invoked Godwin's Law which makes the entire thread a failure from the outset. (The Holocaust was caused by the fictitious writings of "the Elders of Zion" and the books of Henry Ford that Hitler embraced. FTR Hitler was raised as a devout Catholic.)

The atrocities of the 20th Century were NOT "inspired" by atheism and there is zero credible evidence to support that bogus allegation.

So having thoroughly debunked the baiting and taunting of the OP all that is left to consider is what kind of "morality" does it take to denigrate others with fallacious accusations that have no basis?

Nah. Its kinda like weed. It leaves a few folks down a bad path and eases a few others pain, but for the most part its just the easy alternative to dealing with lifes more troublesome quandries.

So does agnostism, some parts of Buddism, Toaism etc etc.
Nope, being an atheist does not mean you believe in Darwinism. Because you do not understand this fact, the rest of your post is pointless!

It is an obvious fact that stronger individuals in nature are more likely to survive and more likely to pass on their genes and this advantage for the strong helps the quality of future populations.

The survival of the fittest is something even creationists admit is true. They see that natural selection helps species or kinds keep from genetically degrading from mutations because the weak not being as reproductively successful leads to future generations having only limited amounts of their genes.

This natural selection according to creationists can lead to micro-evolution or evolution within a species or kind with them adapting to different environments as well because when the environment changes those with traits that fit it more tend to survive more and the population over time changes somewhat to better fit the environment.

While evolutionists and creationists may disagree over whether new information can evolve, macro evolution can happen, complexity can increase, new species can evolve, mutations can be good, and humans are related to animals they tend to agree that microevolution or evolution within a species happens and natural selection or survival of the fittest in nature is a fact.

As you can see, creationists, evolutionists, christians, and atheists believe in natural selection so why are you trying to just use it to demonize atheists?

Actually, the bad and evil things done in the name of Islam are in fact called for by Mohammed... death to the unbeliever, kill the Jews, hack off their heads, etc., are all in their "holy book", the Koran. While atheism leads to evil, Islam is evil, by design.

Atheism can lead to evil but so can any other belief. Just look at all the Islamic and Christian inspired violence throughout history. In fact there is no strong evidence Hitler was even an atheist and seemed to believe in some type of mysticism. The Germans who fought for him were mostly Catholics and Protestants.

Hitler on atheism, he appears to agree with Ronstar!

Adolf Hitler: We Will Fight the Atheistic Movement
We were convinced that the people need and require this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out.

Adolf Hitler, Speech in Berlin, October 24, 1933

Secular schools can never be tolerated because such schools have no religious instruction, and a general moral instruction without a religious foundation is built on air; consequently, all character training and religion must be derived from faith ...we need believing people.

    - Adolf Hitler, April 26, 1933, speech made during negotiations leading to the Nazi-Vatican Concordant

You're assuming "evil" means criminal. But Adolf Hitler got legal authorization for everything he did. Nothing he did qualified as criminal under the German code, as altered by him and his government, of course. On the other hand, Peter and Paul of the Bible spent months, perhaps years, in jail, and then were executed, without having committed one evil act. Gandhi broke laws repeatedly in South Africa and India, but you'd have to stretch a lot to accuse him of being evil. One can be very very evil without ever breaking the law, or be a criminal without being evil.

And yes, Karl Marx, the originator of communism, was an atheist. All of the French revolutionists were atheist, and all of the Russian revolutionists were atheist. As for Hitler, he never attended church again after he left home, so it's fairly safe to say Hitler was at the least irreligious if not actually atheist. He believed himself to be a reincarnation of one of the ancient German gods or heroes, so if he worshipped anyone, it was himself.

Without getting pedantic with wording sure, no supernatural moral authority.

Not necessarily. It’s perfectly possible to be atheist but not accept “Darwinism” (however you’re defining that) and perfectly possible to believe in a supernatural deity while still accepting concepts like survival of the fittest.

That’s a gross over-simplification of those periods of history and by the same measure, beliefs in an unquestionable supernatural authority has led to plenty of similar horrific periods of history too. Intelligent bad people are able to promote such terrible actions within the scope of pretty much any kind of world view. Neither believing or not-believing in gods is fundamentally better in this context.

If we conclude that it does, couldn’t that viewpoint be used to justify forced conversions or mass genocide (as has happened in the past)? Are you sure you’re not evil too?

The question is, is it inevitable? Islam is evil by design, so yes, evil done in the name of Islam is inevitable. Atheism isn't evil by design, but it is in consequence because it removes morality from the life of man, so evil done under the banner of atheism is inevitable. Christianity is good by design, stressing peace, love, and the brotherhood of man. Evil done in the name of Christianity is not inevitable, but a consequence of the natural violent tendencies in human beings.

I don't know if it's true or not but pretty much all my life I've heard it said that more people died under the Christian flag than all the deaths from other wars. True or not, I'm an atheist and I'm certainly not an evil person. I don't need a man made prophecy to know how to act.

Another post proving the need for the religious to attack athiests in order for them to justify their irrational beliefs.

Really pathetic to believe that anyone needs an imaginary god to appreciate the logic of " Treat others as you would want to be treated"

Atheism is a lack of belief in gods, that's it. When I tell you I am an atheist that is all you have learnt about me. Nothing about evolution, naturalism my morals, nothing!
Secular Humanism. The philosophy or life stance of secular humanism embraces human reason, ethics, social justice, and philosophical naturalism while specifically rejecting religious dogma, supernaturalism, pseudoscience, and superstition as the bases of morality and decision making
