Baker Jack Phillips – a cultural hero

Colorado baker Jack Phillips is a perpetual offender. He simply will not do. His offense? Unswervingly honoring his deeply held, and constitutionally protected, religious beliefs.

We've all heard of Phillips and his travails. Leftist bullies have been tormenting him for years, beginning in 2012, when the Colorado Civil Rights Commission targeted him for refusing to make a custom-designed cake to celebrate a same-sex wedding.

After several setbacks in various tribunals, Phillips was finally vindicated in a 7-to-2 U.S. Supreme Court ruling holding that the state of Colorado had shown "clear and impermissible hostility" toward Phillips' religious convictions in violation of his First Amendment rights.

It’s great to see religious liberty being defended by various citizens across the nation. Even better is the courts defending these God given rights to free exercise. Artists, photographers, stenographers, bakers, florists, and others should not have to sacrifice their religious beliefs. They should not be compelled to make expressions that go against all that they believe in.

 

In a related matter, the Suprene court stood with religious liberty in a case against Philadelphia and their treatment of a faith based charity.

It gets more strange when you consider they want to say what a woman can do with her pregnancy, who can live in certain neighborhoods, which kind of "foreigner" should be welcome on American soil and whose cultural history can be taught in schools.

But, they lose their collective minds because two people that love one another want a cake.

 

The persecution this man has faced at the hands of the oppressive and intolerant progressives is just shameful. LET THE MAN BAKE THE CAKES HE WANTS TO BAKE!!!!

I'm not a Christian and stand up for this man. I'm a constitutionalist and believe people have a right to their moral beliefs. I don't belief people should go around and purposely try to ruin others because that have a different belief.

 

And the same day this man entered his store and tried to have him make a special cake for his "sexual transition".

As I said above the persecution some sexual radicals are engaged in against this man should outrage everyone.

 

I guess if you consider a guy whose main accomplishment is not baking cakes for certain people then he’s your hero. I prefer guys like Jonas Salk, Henry Ford, Nikolai Tesla, or people who actually accomplished something which helped humanity in some fashion. Not baking cakes for queers doesn’t make my hero list.

Let's see, foaming at the mouth vengeance against this man in order to ruin him because he will not use his artistry to create something for a celebration of something to which he has personal moral objections is the mark of a sound mind but simple wanting this man to be able to bake the cakes he wants to and to use his artistry as he sees fit is losing ones mind. Seriously, I don't know why someone would want a cake with that much lard in it anyway.

 

How about standing up for your moral beliefs and personal liberty and freedom against irrational hatred and oppression?

 

This guy is no Nathan Hale champ. He’s just another religious bigot. If he had lived back in the 1600s he probably would have built the fire to burn the homosexuals at the stake.

 

Let's be real. Both sides of this issue are trying to stake out publicity. Philips could have rejected making a cake for a whole host of other reasons, and the original gay couple could have never revealed what or whom the cake was for. Both sides wanted to play this out, but only one side is trying to extend the mileage.

I AM being real and the LAST thing this man wanted was for this to happen and for these people to persecute him over his moral principles. And the intolerant oppressors knew exactly what they were doing. I am quite sure he would like nothing more than for all of this to stop and he be allowed to make the cakes HE wants to make.

 

He's not at all, HE is the one being forced onto the stake for his beliefs.

 

If you own a hotel or restaurant that is opened to the public, you can not discriminate against people based on race, sexual orientation or religion Same with a bakery open to the public. I know you guys down in Dixie are still pissed off that they forced business owners down there to serve blacks and let them ride on the front of the bus way back when. I am sure some of those crackers claimed it was against their religion to mingle with “nigra’s” too. This guy that you are so impressed by is definitely no hero. Anyone one of the idiots that sued him could have gone a few blocks and had another cake made. These people aren't happy with that. They want to FORCE their views on Jack.
