I watched Bannon’s interview this morning on Zakaria’s GPS. I was impressed with some of Bannon’s insights, but didn’t always agree with him. While he’s probably right about the government shutdown before the election, I strongly doubt it will be beneficial to the Republicans when it happens. https://politicalwire.com/2018/06/01/bannon-predicts-government-shutdown-before-midterms/ Steve Bannon told CNN that he thinks President Trump will force another government shutdown this fall. Said Bannon: “I believe that what he’s going to do is, as we come up on September 30, if that appropriations bill does not include spending to fully build his wall — not some $1.6 billion for prototypes, I mean to build the southern wall — I believe he will shut down the government.” He added: “The wall is not just totemic. The wall is absolutely central to his program.”
Things like this don't usually flip voters because the ones who understand the truth about shutdowns will remain confident in their ballot decision and the ones who are duped by fake news were going to vote Democrat anyways.
Translation: The 30% who are Democrats will vote Democrat and the 30% who are Republicans will vote Republican, but what the 40% who are Independents will do is anybody's guess. Strip out both the political bias and conspiracy theory nonsense and I agree with you.
Correct about what he says. Now lets see what the 70% of voters who aren't Republicans think about the shutdown when they go to vote.
For those who need a refresher, Trump floated the idea of a shutdown over his wall last April. As this link points out, why isn't Mexico paying for Trump's Wall? https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/28/politics/trump-border-democrats/index.html "We have to have borders, and we have to have them fast," he said. "And we need security. We need the wall. We're going to have it all. And again, that wall has started. We got 1.6 billion. We come up again on September 28th, and if we don't get border security, we'll have no choice. We'll close down the country because we need border security." Despite his campaign pledge to make Mexico pay for his proposed wall on the US-Mexico border, Trump has demanded that Congress fund the project. Last month, he signed a bill that funds the government through September after expressing frustration with a spending package that included $1.6 billion for border security, but not the wall.
Republican civil war will be heating up as Republicans in congress have to try and clean up the mess in the wake of Trump's disastrous run. Any republican looking to get re elected have their work cut out for them especially in the farm belt.
There is no "civil war"....unless one considers nasty posts on message boards and Twitter a "civil war".
We can expand on that tweet=) "No Mexico will NEVER stop its people from illegal rushing your border. We will NEVER try to fix our country and will push all our undesirables within Mexico to you along with anyone passing through Mexico. We will happily bus them up to CA or New Mexico and drop them off at your doorstep. We will continue to happily accept all bribes from drug lords and do nothing to contain it." Take that America!!!! Sincerely, Your toilet bowl.
Mexico is "fixing" their country. I've been traveling down there for over 15 years and it's booming. Yes, it has a ways to go to catch up to us, but it's growing. I agree that illegal immigration is a problem, but it's foolish to believe a wall will solve that problem. Most illegals enter the US legally via visas...then they overstay their visa. Not all illegals are Mexican, only about half. A better, cheaper and more effective solution is to start arresting, convicting and imprisoning anyone who entices, harbors or employs illegals. Once there are no jobs and no place to live, most illegals will go home. The rest can be more easily rounded up and shipped home.
A better question is, Donnie Dirt Bag has had 500 days to collect the money from Mexico to build the wall, so why hasn't he collected a single penny from them???
Because they told him to **** off? Now Trump is threatening to shutdown the government if he doesn't get his way. There should be little doubt that every Republican up for reelection is nervous about that idea. If it appears that is what Trump will do (I doubt he will since he's 90% talk, only 10% walk) then those Republicans will start disagreeing with him publicly to save their election chances.
It's getting there, but some ares are still problematic. I've seen military operations in both Vera Cruz and Chihuahua. Most of the resort areas are owned by the Cartels seeking to either launder money or "go legit" like the Mafia did in Vegas.
I went to Cozumel a few years ago with no issues this year they wouldnt let any of the tenders near and had strict travel warnings.
